Halls gap victoria (grampians)

Recommended Posts

Vistied here on way back from Melbourne and its absolutely fantastic. Wildlife is amazing, we saw kangaroos, emus, porkupines just roaming the streets. It has a real feel of the lakes or scotland about it and fantastic for hiking. Took a stroll to silverbend falls and there are lots of aboriginal sites nearby to explore. We walked to nearby caves with aboriginal hand paintings in, was amazing. Shame i only stayed one night but will go back..shhh dont tell everyone!!!:biggrin:

It is lovely there, and the nearby Wartook Valley is absolutely swarming with wild 'roos too. If you go back, there is a lovely place to stay there called Emu Park where you can camp or rent a cabin: the owner runs the local native fauna rescue and is often hand rearing a joey or two. Been there several times now and always come away wanting to go back!! The Aboriginal Culture centre at Halls Gap is also well worth a visit.

PS They're Echidnas not porcupines

We were there in February but sadly the road through from Dunkeld was closed after floods washed it away in several places and we couldn't visit all the wonderful sites. Hope to go back one day. We stayed in the beautiful Gang Gang villas opposite the Aboriginal Hertitage site and not one in sight (type of parrot)

Hehe yeah i meant that Diane but forgot the word for them lol. Yes some of the roads are still shut sadly, went to the Bambruk visitor center, it was a very humbling experience to see the timelines of europes invasion, and how the aboriginals were treated. We stayed at the comfort inn as a last minute thing but tons of fab accomodation. The shelter we went to was Gulgurn manja i think it was mount zero road that was open. Jtct your pics are amazing , we crammed alot in but saw hundreds of corellas (sp??) fly home to roost over lake bellfield was truly awesome!!!
