Had our second trip over to the Yorke Peninsular this week.

We love exploring and are putting a lot more effort into it.

A few weeks ago we stopped over in Moonta and the West coast. It's a lovely place. Clean ,quiet, safe for kids and has a caravan park on the water's edge.

The water in the bay is very shallow and looks great for kids.

Looked in on Pt Broughton and Pt Hughes , lovely places. Quiet and clean. Proper "old fashioned" holiday places.

This week we went further down via the east coast of the peninsular , called in at Tiddy Widdy Beach , Ardrossan, Port Vincent, Stansbury and stopped over night at Edithbergh.

All quiet/ sleepy towns.

Next day saw us driver right around the "boot".

Mostly un metalled roads (dirt) but all good for 2wd saloon cars , just some were very corrugated so you might lose a filling or two!

Down to Marion Bay and then up to Corny Point.

Some lovely scenery, barren ,desolate, wild, beautiful and more.

Not a lot for the kids to do if they like theme parks and stuff.

Plenty of camp sites and caravan parks plus areas in the middle of nowhere to camp.

Took us 3.5 hours to get to Edithbergh as we drove steadily and called into most of the townships on the way.

Some pics of the area.............

We live in a fantastic part of the world. Still discovering after nearly 12 years here. If you go out to find you will not be bored here in South Australia!!!!

This reminds me of an old factory chimney, in fact it's a lighthouse.

Is it just me or should some more thought have gone into naming the local streets????

That's on our list of places to visit - short break in Goolwa/Port Eliott next week, Morgan (Riverland) in May ........ What is the peninsular like in winter? (June/July) We would prefer a cabin or small B&B if such places exist.

Plenty of B&B's and cabins to choose from.

We like stopping in or near a pub normally (hic).

I'd imagine it would be cold in winter down that way. It is very exposed.

We stayed at Moonta Bay Caravan Park for Australia Day weekend. Was a lovely Park and so close to the beautiful sandy beaches. Just make sure you have some vinegar ready as our daugther got stung by one of the many jelly fish in the sea.

We were down near Marion Bay last weekend, had a great time. Some of the beaches down there are fantastic. We've stayed in the Marion bay holiday villas (highly recommended) and this time we stayed at hillocks homestead, a great place to stay if there is a large group traveling together
