Thinking of having a weekend in melbourne can anyone recommend anywhere to stay not too expensive? A friend has offered to have our little boy so its just for 2 adults x

when we were in Melbourne last year we stayed in an apartment which has become our preference when travelling now over hotels. we stayed in an apartment on Southbank which is just over the river about a 5 min walk to the start of the CBD. We stayed here, www.shortstay.com.au in the southbank apartments. There is also an apartment block in the CBD. They were clean, very secure, had complimentry tea, coffee etc and also sachets for the washing machine, dishwasher etc. There is also an indoor pool and gym that you can use while staying. It is a lovely walk along the Yarra on the Southbank side, there are lots of eateries and further down there is a food court in a mini mall which has some cheaper options.
