Shipping companies
Hi All,
We've had two companies in to give us a shipping quote, prices were based on a 20ft container - we had Anglo Pacific and Excess Int. They both quoted just over £4000, excl any insurance. Just called PSS Int and was given a really good price of £3450, did anyone use PSS and whould you recommend them.
Any other companies you can recommend will be great. At this stage of the game, any cost reduction will be great - the moving budget is looking very scary indeed
!
Thanks for all the help, would be lost without this site !!!

We used PSS and were pleased with the service. They came and packed everything up well, it arrived when they said it would and they delivered and cleared up this end. Would get insurance through a third party though - the % they charge makes it even more expensive. We used Letton Percival (like many on this site) and paid half the price that PSS quoted. Good luck!
COMPUTER PROBLEMS?

Call Mark on 0488 188 684 - cheap rates! ;)
Arrived Adelaide - 16/3/09 (Temporary 475), Applied for PR - 16/3/11 (887), Visa Grant - 12/04/2011

Hi we used pickfords international, the cheapest of all quotes packed the whole house in the uk in a day and delivered on time here in Adelaide, they unpacked everything including assembling all the beds and furniture. Nothing was damaged and only one box opened by customs, but they taped it back up. hope this helps

hi, we have just had a quote from Doreen Bonner for a 20 foot container of £3,800 thats all packing & unpacking @ our uk address & the same in Adelaide . hope this gives you another idea , we were going to go with Pickfords but yhey again were £4k.

We used John Masons, they were great, we only used about half a container and paid £1200, that wasn't their first price though, so be sure to haggle. I think the original price was closer to £1400.
Our stuff still hasn't arrived yet so as long as everthing is in one piece they have been excellent.
They pack everything up and deliver everything to the right rooms etc.
We got quotes from other places but the service seemed to be a lot better from them.

We used Atlantic - who are based near you. They were excellent - and by far the cheapest. We stored our possessions with them for 10 weeks whilst we lived in a rental - they did 2 house clearances for us, 20ft container, stored everything at this end for 8 weeks til we found a house for less than 3 grand. 1 teapot lid broken!! Nothing opened at customs even though we were positive they would as we bought over our dogs ashes. The guys they use this end are ITS and they were great as well. They said that customs target certain containers purely by the shipping company - as they know the ones they can trust - not sure if this is true - but worked in our favour.
Never used Anglo - but check them out on british expats - there are lots of horror stories about them.

We used PSS and couldn't fault them, very nice guys that came and packed up in UK, container was a month late but that wasn't PSS fault, boat went to the wrong place!!!
The guys here that unloaded were nice too and helpful. We did however play PSS off against Pickfords and got the price down, pickfords gave us the cheaper quote in the end but I prefered the dealings I had had with PSS, pickfords were extremely pushy, phoning me everyday asking if I had made a decision and quite rude so went with PSS with a good price and better service.

Hi Janine
I think we might only need half a container because most of our furniture in our house is built in eg wardrobes, cooker etc. Approximately how much furniture have you managed to fit in half a container?
Thanks
