Firstly, I'd like to thank all the contributors on the site for all their questions, answers and general banter. I've been reading the threads for about the past year and it's been really helpful, but have never contributed myself. I've been thinking about moving to oz since I went on a working holiday visa in 1997...(I hate thinking that was 12 years ago!!) I spent six months traveling around and then came back to go to uni.
Anyway, I keep changing my mind, one minute I'm certain that I want to move and the next I get cold feet. I'm now 30 and single at the moment, and I feel now is the time. So, I guess I just wanted to warn you that there will probably be plenty of questions and I'm sure many of you have answered them several times before so I'll apologise now!
My main concern is spending a lot of money applying and then getting refused! Has that happened to you? What did you do? Can you appeal? Is there any point? Did you go away and improve your skills / education? My specific concern is that I'm a sales rep with plenty of experience but no degree; I finished uni with an HND and then got a job. I've spoken with a few agents and they say it won't be a problem but can you trust them? I don't mean any disrespect there but I've been quoted AU$3,500 to help with the application and obviously no guarantees.
If I'm honest, going completely on my own is also daunting; I will know absolutely no-one once I'm there. Are there many others in the same boat?
I'll leave it there for now but would appreciate any personal advice you can give
