      Hi Tim,

I love this site & am getting addicted however also experiencing problems as although logged on/registered it seems to think I'm not when I try to reply to threads or any other action - I keep getting the log on screen when I have only logged in minutes previously. I tried registering again thinking that hadn't worked properly but got the message that I was already registered. Sometimes it does like me carry out the action but other times it doesn't......little frustrating ...can you help???

      Here's hoping

Hi Zoe, I've noticed that it seems a bit ruthless in timing you out if you haven't moved post or page for a while and it times you out if you are typing in the Reply window for more than a few minutes or you get interrupted. The site doesn't recognise you are still there until you hit the Submit Reply button. Bit annoying if you are in the middle of a reply and you lose what you have written. If you follow the instructions about refreshing the screen then logging in, sometimes your text is still there and sometimes it isn't. To make sure I don't lose what I have written, what I do is hold the CTRL key down and press the A key. This saves all of what you have typed into the box and when you have logged back in you re-open the reply box then you can hit CTRL and V to paste that text back in.

Hope that helps but I know what you mean about having to keep loggin in...

It may be you need to set the timeframe for how long the forum keeps you logged in for (usually an option box of some sorts when you sign in).

I have mine set to stay logged in permanently and as a result don't ever have problems with timing out or anything. It sounds to me like your setting is the default and this is usually short, only say 5 minutes or something. I know on my own forum you can set it to be for 60 minutes, x amount of hours or forever.

If you do find this setting option and use it then you need to remember to never log out as otherwise when you come back to the forum you will have to log in again. Remaining logged in is fine if only you use this forum :)
