Guest mike and tor

Right now the title got your attention;) let me introduce my wife Tor and I, Mike.

We are looking at moving to the big A in the next few months, the difference being we are currently holed up in NZ (long story) but we are from the UK.

We have a few (well quite a few really) questions. Firstly, has any one gone to Adelaide on a 457 visa. If so did you manage to get a mortgage or have you had any problems getting a bank account/any services.

Second, we are bringing our greyhound, retired. Can any one recommend a good rental company that deals with the west coast?

Third, and this is the most stressful one:shocked: we will either be 7 months pregnant or have a one month old baby, depending on the speed of the visa application. Can any one tell us what the Adelaide hospital is like, or the health care system?

There, that was quite painless really wasn't it.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

I think all is well financially with a 457 visa here, you need a financial specialist to guide you through - We have two on this forum if you have a quick search.

Not sure of any advice for your doggie - love retired hounds :)

The health system here is very good in my eyes and quite a few others as well - certainly quicker for tests and treatment than the UK.

Enjoy the forum - less of the poop as a lot of folk can help in here;)

Hi

We're here on a 457 visa and have just opened a new bank account with credit cards, etc.. and been told they will give us a nice large mortgage when we find somewhere suitable to buy. Previously we were here on a 1 year visa and we were only allowed a limited bank account (no credit cards etc).

With regards to baby stuff, 2 of my friends have given birth at the Women and Chidrens Hospital. Neither were disappointed with the care although it was much the same as back home i.e. some good, some bad bits but nothing horrific.

Hi..

I had a baby here in April. ( was 5months pregnant when I arrived here)

I was in Flinders medical centre & must say they were excellent!! Much better than my two other births in the UK!!

It was clean, I had my own room & the Midwives even took my baby for the night so i could get some sleep!! (unheard of nowdays in London!!)

Cant help you much on the other info but happy to answer any questions re the baby!!
