New to Adelaide Poms - North or South
Hi, Just thought I would introduce myself.
My OH and I have been battling with the emotions of emmigrating for a number of years. We went over for a holiday in 2006 to visit friends and family and totally loved Adelaide. We did a road trip inland to Melbourne then up the Great Ocen Road to come back. We both had an overwhelming feeling of being at home when we got back to Adelaide. When we got back to the UK we started to get all the info together to start visa & skills assesment, but then a family issue put everything on hold. Now, nearly 4 years later we are looking at it again
We originally stayed in Greenwith but spent alot of time around Aberfoyle Park. I got loads of info on the South but didn't really do any North Study.
So, my question to you all is North or South, why do YOU prefer that one?
We have been looking at some house around the Hillbank area, but I need info on schools really.
OH is a Sparky with loads of Home Improvement experience (Kitchen/Bathroom fitting, tiling etc.) and we have 2 Girls 6 & 11 who both love to Dance
Hi, Welcome to PIA. We currently live not far from Walsall, near Dudley. We moving over on 7th February. We have got On Arrival Accommodation in Paradise which is North East. We have been looking mainly North/North West of Adelaide CBD for longer term lets but will wait until we get there and have a good look around before we decided.
Good luck on your visa application and be nice to keep in touch.
Hi Niz and welcome.
This is a common question, you'll find the ones living in the south will say South! and the one living north will say North!!
It does start some of the boys and girls arguing ;)
It all depends upon what you want, where you will be working and schools.
All I can say is take your time and don't commit to either until you have had a really good look around.
Adelaide has so many diverse areas making it so hard to choose.:)
We live in the south. We were just drawn to it plus we had friends here.
Close to some lovely beaches.
A lot of areas are more affordable.
Downside is you are further away from the city but we don't really miss it that much.
We chose N.East due to work requirements and love it up here;)
Whereabouts in Walsall you from???
We're in the NE (due to hubs living here before I came over) and I think both N & S are nice...totally depends on what you're looking for. I like the quick commute into the city, but sometimes find it too suburban. That being said, we're close to the hills and shopping which is nice too.
we live in the NE just because it's easier to get to work.
North and south are nice, my advice, make your own mind up, you wouldn't post on a forum to live somewhere in the UK would you?
I think both are nice. We live South because they have the best beaches but the roads are better in the North. North East is really nice but depends if you are beach people or not. We are in Flagstaff hill which is 20 min drive to city on a sat night but about an hour in rush hour! Nice spot due to beach 10 min drive and living in the hills.
As everyone has said, it is a personal decision and we are all different.
East is best....why do people never say East or West?
Yeah good point!! How about central?? ie Adelaide City Centre
