My Husband and I (and cat) arrived in SA last November and have just stumbled upon PIA. We have a rental in Plympton and in terms of work my Husband has managed to get some temp labouring but I’m still trying to secure work in HR and the novelty of not working has definitely worn off…although I’m fighting with the temptation to become a professional beach bum! :arghh:Anyway we are really starting to miss friends and socialising and wondered whether there were any regular get togethers in our area (or thereabouts) or if others are interested in meeting up? We don`t have any kids however would be keen to meet fellow Brits of all ages/backgrounds.

Sorry to be nosy but what kind of visa have you got PR or Temp ???

If its a PR and hubby wants a stable and reliable full time work with not a bad wage has he looked at bus driving as torrens transit and southlink are screaming for drivers.

Thanks for your comments/invites. It’s great to have a few contact numbers I will certainly be giving you a call. We have a 475 (temp) visa, which might explain the difficulty in securing permanent employment, although we are both prepared to do temp work initially it’s still not as straightforward as originally thought!
