I'd say the safest thing to do is have a list of questions, rate them in order of priority and then ask the ones you can't find the answers to online here or elsewhere.

I think the main things to start thinking about are costs and how to's of shipping/moving, whereabouts you'd like to be in SA and why and when you are aiming for. And go about reading about visa applications and all the paperwork you have to go through and what criteria you'll need to meet and its costs.
