hi! I'm a nurse here in the Philippines and im planning to study in University of South Australia-ARNTP by nextyr, i'm still deciding if this will be a good choice and will i be able to have a good future considering the tuition fees are high, i need some feedbacks regarding this and will i be able to get a job after , thanks

I'm struggling to understand if you are a registered nurse or a health care assistant in the phillipines and exactly what you are going to be studying once you come here. If you are already a registered nurse then your skills assessment should be enough to register you here in oz you would then be free to work wherever you want to providing your visa has no state restrictions. You need first to take the ielts test for english proficiency- everyone has to do this including English nurses so don't be alarmed by it, ten sned your documents off to be assessed for nursing registration in oz, do this first as if you send it to immigration forskills assessment first it takes much longer is a more in depth asessment and costs more money!!!

It really depends on what course of nursing you will be studying as to how long it will take and for that you will have to ask the uni in question.

julia nursing courses in the phillapines are not seen as on the same level as uk or australian nursing, most nurses need to go through some kind of transition programme to upgrade their skills to our standards, from certain countries anyway.But not sure if they offer it here so she may need to retrain.

 

If you now qualify as a nurse in SA you can practice in any state due to the restructuing of nurse registration and national nursing body see AHPRA - AHPRA Home.

 

Despite the latest stories, nurses will always be in demand to to an aging population, this iften happens there is a shortfall so uni places are bumped up they overestimate every couple of years but i dont know any out of work nurses unless they are extremely speacialised and narrow in their field, plus who is to say what will happen in the next 2 yrs. No nursing is and always has been a solid profession. Id get clear advice from uni sa on structure and fees etc, and if you need to do the whole course of if they offer transition for international students like they used to in the uk.

 

ps im back to uni myself next year to study Mental Health, there is a huge shortage there, Good luck x

.. really? when will you start? i think i'll be there by first week of April, can you sugguest accomodations? thanks
