hi, we r on a 176 state sponsored visa and planning to move to adelaide,

we r looking to rent long term [2 years] in a area family freindly, close to beach not to

far from cbd, any help greatly appreciated:biglaugh:

Renting at first, is Glenelg a good option ? What are rent prices ? for a three bedroom house

any info much appreciated.

Hi guys and welcome to the forum.

 

Glenelg would nearly be the most expensive area to rent if you want to be near the beach.

Watch out for the area north of Glenelg aa there is a sewage farm on the border to the next suburb of West Beach - it's the Million Dollar pong,as local call it.

I'm not familiar with areas north of Glenelg.

Anywhere south through Somerton,Hove,Brighton and Seacliff are good. Marino is expensive again.

 

 

You could always look even further south where a lot of the posters on here live.

Areas on the beach are.........

Hallett Cove, Christies Beach,Port Noarlunga,Seaford,Moana,Port Willunga,Aldinga.

 

Depends where you will be working and commute times.

I find that most of Adelaide is family friendly, but Glenelg is probably one area that is more suited to couples, singles, retired folk etc. I lived there before we had kids, and it seems much livelier now than it was then. The suburbs Tyke listed would definately be more family friendly, and northwards West Beach, Henley, Grange, West Lakes, Semaphore.

 

As for the sewage works, the prevailing wind tends to be from the south west, blowing the smell towards the airport. There are only a few streets on the edge of Glenelg affected, and then only on the odd day. The caravan park, the golf course and the skate park tend to cop the smell the most.
