Hi we have newly come across this site - wish we had found it sooner!

My husband is a Blacksmith, and I am a Housing Manager, we have a wonderful 3 year old daugher who can change from an angel to complete devil in an instant!

We started the process in Jan 09. We used an agent as my husband is now self employed and also for him to get his trades recognition he had to get an Australian qualification as the papers he had were not worth the paper they were written on, thankfully got it all sorted out, though seemed to take forever.

We have completed everything other than medicals and police checks - our agent had told us not to dot these until we get a CO

Would love to be in Adelaide by Jan 12, but it will all hinge on getting VISA, selling house, business etc - we have fingers, toes and everything else crossed, but have learned not to get our hopes up.

Its really good to see on here that we are not alone, its good to know that other people are going through, or have been through the same. Its really good to see folks getting COs allocated as as it gives us a little hope, don't know about anyone else but I seem to spend every spare minute at night checking real estate and job sites!

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi and welcome to the site

Funnily enough I was talking to someone the other day who is involved with a racing stable out in the Barossa somewhere about the difficulty of them finding good staff who have experience with horses, so am sure your OH will be in great demand when you get here.

Any questions you have along the way, don't hesitate to put them up on the forum - usually someone who can either help, or point you in the right direction, or give you an opinion or two!

Nice to hear from you, sadly hubby doesn't do horses, he does gates, railings structural stuff.

Thanks for offering to answer any questions - you may regret this as I seem to think of something else everyother day!

Its all exciting and scarry at the sametime

Hi Don't think they have what we know as a Blacksmith here think they call them Boilermakers here, Most of the fencing/raillings (so long since I heard raillings) is done by fencers here a job on its own all they do are diffrent types of fences.Plenty of structural steel to keep him busy. As for yourself lots of housing coop on the go, and they have only one housing group for the whole of S.A which is the housing trust which is in a bit of a decline here.

Boiler maker is the equivilant of a welder fabricator in the UK.

I don't know where a blacksmith fits into the equation, you could be looking at some specialised one off build stuff rather than mass production............. afterall this is where the money is.

So keep your eye out for smaller company's working on "special" builds / projects.
