Hello Everybody,

 

Just heard about Poms in Adelaide and thought I would give it a look.

 

I was originally born and raised in Barnsley (south Yorkshire) and came Backpacking through Aussie. I didnt plan to settle in Adelaide but met my partner and pritty much never left. Love it here but would like to meet some fellow poms.

 

Been here 18 months but finding it hard to make mates dont know where to start. Tried a soccer club but was too far to travel after work (Out North). Love all kinds of sport and a few knock off beers. If anyone knows or is part of a sporting club (5 aside, coaching) let me know please.

Cheers for the Threads guys. Yep no one will be left in Tarn if i have my own and get family and mates out.

 

What i remeber of Leeds is Hedingly taps and the test match, good days!!!!!

 

Helen73 you will love it lifestyle in my opinion is amazing. Living in Yorkshire seems another world away. Good luck with your process of getting here.

 

If anybody has a Sporting team looking for players im keen as.

Where abouts in Barnsley did you come from? We are still there, hoping to be where you are in the next year or so - just about to lodge our visa.

 

I was hoping that making friends would be easier there than here. I guess you really have to put yourself out there to make yourself known...

 

Have you looked on the socialising bit on here? - There are always invitations to sports things/nights out on there...

Now then, Hi alex, were from Leeds like a few on here too, we are hoping to move once the house is sold.

will keep fingers crossed -there is plenty of freindly peopleon here - I am sure you will find someone who can help you on here

Helen never been to Adelaide, it is a bit nerve wracking but you do find your feet!!!!! All the best for the rest of your process.

 

Rach i come from Redbrook, I have Aussie mate but would like a few Poms to talk football and a bit of banter. Ill check out the social forum. All the best with your visa.

Hey Alex, I am from Wombwell, Barnsley. I am living in CHCH New Zealand and we would love to come out to live in Adelaide soon. I am married to a Kiwi.

 

Sounds like the place is full of northerners lol!

 

We are just about to book our flights for a visit in October, would be good to catch up for a beer with everyone! ;-)

Hi Alex, my husband is from Birdwell and I'm from Thurnscoe. Will be out in Adelaide in September. He's a big reds fan too (already said he'll listen to every match on the internet when we get there!). let us know about any soccer teams you find as i know he'll be dying for a good game! Can't wait to get out there!

Lil Bev it will be good to have another reds fan up in the middle of the night LOL!!! One thing I miss is going down to Oakwell. Good luck with the Journey over its quality here. If you have any questions just drop us a message. Have to meet up with you both when you arrive.

I'm a Darfield lad, just got back from 'Tarn' Can you believe all that way and they didn't play at home. Went to see them play at Birmingham & Derby - 2 good away draws.

I arrived back on Saturday morning and yes I stayed up to listen to them play Coventry on 'Barnsley Player' U REDS!

We've been here 18months (April10) love Adelaide.

 

Mawsnmorg - making friends seems easier if you have kids, we have 2 girls and we have a really good group of friends (mainly their friend parents) but theres always meet ups arranged on here (PIA) It also help that you're from Tarn (we'll take to anyone!!)

Sorry not been on for a while. Lil Bev sounds good for a meet up. We go to the watermark a fair bit so when your free just PM me and can arrange something.

 

 

Mez so jealous pal you got to see the boys in action. Im off back next august so catch a few games hopefully. Were doing alright i guess on the shoe string buget we have. We should arrange a barnsley boys night out sometime. Cheers U reds

They played well in the first half too many injuries!

'up in the middle of the night listening to Barnsley player' wait while the clocks change in UK and its ten and half hours difference, Its nearly morning. The wife goes mental at me for staying up all night + I get all the home programmes sent direct to me.

I really like adelaide, but my husband works away quite a lot of the time. I'm living in Aldgate at the moment, just wondering if there are any get togethers?

You are not on your own feeling the way you do, have a look in the socialising section, there is a meet up every first Sunday of the month, there is a post on here already. Just join in and take part. It is a top site for making friends if you what to.

People are really helpful and genuine

Have a look around on here you never know what you might find,

Heard your text messages on Barnsley Player on Wednesday Morning (just a little bit late for work)!!!!! A good result for the reds, even if it was nerve racking for the last 10min.

Don't agree with the Sunday matches!!!! 01:30 - 03:15 on Monday morning, I'll not be much good at work.

Hope we have a good November (Brighton, Leeds and Donny)
