Hey everyone!

Thought I would say hello and tell you our story since I have shared in so many of yours. We are just putting our application in for a permanent skilled visa.

My husband started the immigration process in 2007, when he passed TRA as a Plumber and we gathered up all the paperwork for emigrating. Getting married and a dodgy agent put us on hold for a year then we began again - then I feel pregnant and we decided to wait until the baby was born before we put our application in. We managed to get a new agent who is fabulous, but due to rule changes he advised us to get my husband reassessed as a Gas Fitter (he is both) as he felt it would keep more doors open for us. When his TRA came back in Oct 2010 we had some very bad financial problems, my husband's business went bankrupt and a property we rented out was flooded in the really bad winter weather and needed a total remodel, so we had no money to put our application in. At no point have we ever stopped wanting to emigrate, we talk about it all the time and have made plans a million times over. We have to get our application in before July with the new rules. I am terrified to get my hopes up this time, so much has happened in the past to put us off track. My tummy heaves every time I think we could be let down again.

For those going on a perm skilled, what are recent experiences of timescales, has it gone in quicker/slower than advised? Do you think the new rules are going to make it happen slower or quicker?

Many thanks for reading my boring story, if you managed to get to the bottom, well done :biglaugh: xx

Thanks guys, I am praying that nothing stops us this time, our immigration agent pretty much said that he thinks the new changes would make it nigh on impossible for us to get in (but i'm not sure why, something to do with the skills assessments they are accepting?). We are frantically raising money just now - got an estate agent coming out to see our rental property on Monday, he specialises in quick sales so fingers crossed xx

Hi Tracey

We have just submitted on a skilled perm visa, and it took us 4 weeks to get our SS and 13 days to be assigned a CO, unbelievably quick, although we have to put our dream on hold for a few months as I am having a baby and can't have my medicals until September when it is born, so frustrating! However I think my OH will be booking them when I am in labour ha! Our CO has extende our deadline for medicals and PC's to Oct 31st. So for us the whole process has been unbelievely quick!

Im not sure about the new rules , but hopefully where there is a will theres a way!!

Good luck and I hope you make it!

Hey there!

You seem to have been tarred with the same bad luck brush as we were! However, this year is THE year for visas and now we have ours i'm passing my visa guardian angel onto you and all the other guys waiting!

Keep the faith, it will happen, everyone on here knows that. So when you find yourself checking your status for the tenth time of the day, just know that we are all thinking of you and willing your CO to be assigned and visa granted xxx

Thanks Emma! That is ultra quick for them to process the SS true enough, glad the CO has made the effort to extend the deadline for you, lets you relax and enjoy your pregnancy without the worry. That's two exciting things for you to lok forward to, baby and the move, Good luck for it all! We didn't go State Sponsored as I still have a year to go on my HND and our Agent said they are approved really quickly, instead we are putting our app in next week (hopefully before the rules make it a no go for us) for skilled independent. We were told that the timeline for these is 18 months just now so fingers crossed this won't change as it will be perfect timing. I won't get my hoped up though as we know everything changes so often xxx

Thanks! I keep imagining how it will feel but don't think I will ever manage to until it happens for real, fingers crossed! xx

:) Your day will come! You have come this far despite all that has happened to you. Your day will definitely come!

You will find there are plenty of people here, on PIA, who will support, help and advise you whenever you need it.

I look forward to reading about your journey :)

So true, every time I have a question to ask I come on here and read through previous posts, it's lovely to see so many people taking the time to answer questions, give advice and reassure. I found some other Forums were rather negative and argumentative with each other and it really put me off going on, the exact opposite here.

Thanks Rachael xxx
