Hi All,

We're Paul & Lisa and are new to this site. We're planning to move out to Adelaide in Oct 08 and would welcome any advice on the best suburbs to live in. We have an 18 yr old son who plans to take a year-out when we arrive, and a 15 yr old daughter for whom a good High School is a priority. Of course, some good restaurants and decent shopping is quite high on our list too.

welcome to PIA, good luck with the move and process. With regard advice on good suburbs expect a multitude of suggestions and comments as always its a matter of opinion and whats good for one is not always good for all. The only way a suburb can be classed as suitable if its suitable for you. It will depend on budgets, location to CBD, beaches, work etc etc.

Best way of researching suburbs is looking at property pages, taking personal opinions at face value, seaching for local amenities and also google earth for getting a feel of whats around.

Any way good luck with it all and dont be afraid to ask any questions on here as someone will always offer advice

Hi Paul & Lisa,

We also have an 18 year old son who is coming with us. We are hoping to go July, Aug providing we pass our medicals.

Its seems there are lots of nice area in Adelaide and the general advice is it all depends on where you work. The general advice is go round the areas and see which area you like most

Hi Paul and Lisa,

welcom to the site and good luck with the move, you can find some info on areas on the property thread on this site but many contradict each other:skeptical::confused: so may be best to decide for youself.

Hi Paul and Lisa,

Welcome to PIA, as previously said it all comes down to personal preference. We went on a reccie and thought we had narrowed the areas down, only to come back and change our mind a number of times after looking on real estate pages.

Budget and work are a big deciding factor, cos there is no point going all the way to Oz and then getting a huge mortgage and not enjoying the lifestyle to its full advantage, coz you need to work all the time to pay for the house!

Good luck to you, I'm sure you'll know the right area for you when you get there and have a good look about, it's all about you and your family's opinions and happiness x

Hi Paul and Lisa

We have been here two months and have a 16 year old and 11 year old, the 16 year old starts at Blackwood High in a couple of weeks and we have heard good reports about it, but can't really comment yet. You could have a look at the school websites to get an idea. There are lots of lovely areas to choose from, depends if you want to be close to the sea etc, just take your time looking round when you come, wherever you decide I am sure you will all love it - we do! bye for now, Gina
