Hello Everyone!

 

Just become a Junior Member today!! Not sure when we become seniors!! We hope to be getting our visas before the summer (it seems to have taken forever to get this far!) and are really looking forward to the big move later this year!

 

It's been good to read about other peoples experiences (good and bad) on this website.

 

We did a one week reckie last May but still haven't decided where we would like to live. Appreciate any recommendations for family friendly areas with great schools and easy commute to central Adelaide.

 

Hoping to go to the Weymouth meetup next Sunday...let us know if you're going too!

but i think it would help to tell us your 'wishlist' ... that might narrow it down further

Hello Mozzy - cool name!!

 

We have a big 'wish-list' as there are 5 of us! Hopefully we will find what we are looking for - the main priority being to find good schools for the kids...and not too far from the beach. Saw the family that moved to Reynella East on Wanted Down Under....that looked good & close to beach.

 

Good luck with your visas ... we are still waiting for our police checks...whole process seems to have taken a lifetime but I'm sure it'll be worth it!

Hi Sharon & Paul - thanks for your reply....yes we are in Whiteley near Fareham...small world isn't it!

 

So have you guys got your visas? We have a few more weeks to go (we guess!) but hope to be going late summer / autumn (UK time)....as long as we manage to sell our house.

 

Do you know where you will be going when you get to Adelaide?

 

It would be good to compare notes....so keep in touch.

the process seems alot longer than everyone thinks, you are ahead of us, so its good to know rough times, have you sold your house and ready to go as soon as you get the go ahead! are you all excited, how are your kids feeling, my kids are around the same age as yours. keep intouch, be good to know how you are getting on when you get there.

Hi Woody Crew - thanks again for your reply. We haven't sold our house yet. We got the paint brush out last year in preparation and plan to put it on the market as soon as we get our visas....hopefully in early spring. Let's hope the market picks up a little.

 

We just want to get on with things really....the wait is frustrating when you have made up your minds you want to go (and lots of people keep asking - haven't you gone yet!!)

 

We are excited although it's still a bit scary to think we are giving everything up in the UK...for the unknown! We will certainly miss our close families...never been too far away from them and we see them regularly. That will be hard but hopefully we will meet and make some good friends in Adelaide!

 

The kids are looking forward to it generally. We just hope to settle them into good schools asap. We are sure they will miss their friends initially.

 

Not sure where we shall live just yet...probably rent to start with. We looked at the southern suburbs last year so probably around there - not too far from a good beach hopefully.

 

How about you.....do you have a house to sell / know where you are going??
