Hello,
Hello, my wife and I are from Kent in the uk and will be bringing the kids over to Adelaide sometime in July if all goes well. I am a out to start working up in WA in the mines on the railway just so long as my visa transfer goes through ok, im currently sponsored by one company and I'm shifting to another new company who will take over my visa. We have as yet not set foot in Oz but chose to land in Adeliade as I have a large amount of family there so thought it would be a good starting point.
We have two boys of nine and five who are keen as you like to start exploring. We will be moving to Gawler but I'm not sure if that's where we will stay. Never been to Oz but done lots of research.....
So that's us
Hope to speak to lots of you soon.

Looking forward to getting to know you on the forums.

Hi Rachael,
Thanks for your kind welcome. I have also joined Poms in Adelaide and also Poms in Perth because at the moment I am split between living in both places. All ky friends will be living in Perth and I will be working with them but all my family live in Adelaide and I will be leaving my wife and kids in experienced migrants rather than with the newbies in Perth but I will be working in the Pilbara so flying in and out of Perth every three weeks. Tough decision.

That can't be an easy thing to have to decide.
What a lot of traveling for you!
At least being amongst family might make things go a little more smoothly for your wife and kids. You can't beat local knowledge!
July isn't so far away so I'm sure you will all be busy. We only moved in Nov, so my memories of all the hard work you are facing are still fresh in my mind.
We are still waiting for our container and are living out of a suitcase pretty much. But it is so good to be here.
Exciting, confusing and sometimes a little frustrating - but, at the end of the day, we are very happy and have found the people that we have met to be so kind and friendly.
Your boys will have a great time, there is lot for kids to do. I wish we had done this whilst ours were still at home, the lifestyle and attitude is just so healthy.
Teenagers here are pretty polite and lots of them take part in sport or are active in some way. It's pretty inspiring.
It will be what you make it, of course, but come with a spirit of adventure, a good sense of humour and a little bit of "oomph" and you'll do fine.
Once again, good luck with everything.

Thanks Rachael,
Adventure is my family all over. We love to explore, go camping, go on road trips, socialise and have BBQ's and karaoke parties and we all have a good attitude towards coming so we should be fine. The only drawback that I can see is the homesickness. I intend to overcome that with lots of webcam chats. Before i go i will be taking photos and videos of all the things i will be delighted to be getting away from.
So how did you guys come to be there? What is it you do? How have you found Adelaide?
Another reason Adelaide looks like a good place to stay over Perth is the surrounding opportunities. Like being able to visit melbourne and sydney for the weekend on the plane. I am already looking at taking a driving trip down to Melbourne along the great coast road as it looks fantastic. I'm not sure exactly what Perth will have to offer in respect of local things but the east coast definitely seems to have more.
I want to take my kids to the theme parks at the Gold coast too. We are big fans of Chessington and Thorpe Park in the UK and Disney world in Florida and it looks like we can get our "fix" from over at Dreamworld. It looks like that's about the nearest place.
What stuff have you found locally that you like to do?

Oh I meant to tell you. Check out freecycle for maybe getting sone stuff to help you until your container turns up.
