Hi,

when we went through the process and sent all our documents to diac we had to get consent for my wife's daughter, my migration agent who is also solicitor wrote a letter to him asking him to sign it....we thought he would say no...but he signed it (maybe because it came from the solicitor) and we passed it onto diac.

It took acouple of weeks for him to sign it...but he done it in the end!

Good Luck

Chris

Hello, We are just about to go through this ourselves, Been to see a specialist family law solicitor and he is sending out a letter to my ex partner, if you would like more information don't hesitate to contact me. My solicitor has given a rough price and a time scale and there quite shocking.

If the father doesn't wish to consent then you may need to be prepared to go through the courts and the legal process. This will involve hiring a legal bod to represent you (get someone who specialises in this sort of thing) and realise you may need to jump through a lot of hoops. You'll need to make your case for why you want to take her to Aus and so on.

Good luck with it all.

FWIW there is a lot of info about this over on our sister site, Poms in Oz http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/forum.php
