Hi everyone,

 

Someone told me about this site and its been great having a look and reading the various posts.

 

My name is James, 32 and moved over to SA 3 11 weeks ago with work from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. I live in Glenelg on the beach and I'm really enjoying my experience so far, except that I don't know many people and just a couple of work colleagues to socialise with. The only downside that i can see to living in Australia is the distance away from friends and family.

 

I moved here on my own and I was wondering if there was anyone in a similar situation or a network of people who socialise, play sport etc in Adelaide. I like to play football (soccer), golf, squash, running, gym etc and eating out, pub and bars and the usual stuff.

 

Would be good to hear from some like-minded people.

Welcome to the forum. My name is Ali and I'll be moving to Adelaide either on the 15th of July or August the first. I will be moving there on my own and I see that we have similar interests e.g. football, gym, eating out, pub and bars.

 

I'm 34 and asides from some very good friends I've made on this forum I don't know anyone in Adelaide so it will be great to hang out. I'll give you a shout once I set foot there.

im in the same boat as you guys, I'm planning on coming in july and would be interested in meeting up for some training or nights out. the way i see it, you will take in a lot more and adjust quicker if you socialise in small groups. its gotta be worth at least a night on the lash!

Hi James,

 

Welcome. The nearest I get to most sports is watching them, including my beloved Toon Army (although a Londoner born and bred). So, have to ask. Did you watch your footy in the mighty SJP (:arghh: Sports Direct Arena :arghh:) or at the Stadium of Sh...?

I've booked my flight now and will be landing in Brisbane on the 27th of this month, I'm having two weeks in qld with family, then gonna drive to Adelaide so I expect to be there around about the 13/14th of July. Looking for a small furnished place around glenelg if you know of anything, would consider a share if the price was right.

 

Cant wait now, I'm buzzing for it!

Gotta start doing the rounds now... I hate goodbyes! Haha :-)

I'm flying out sometime between 15th of July to 1rst of August. I too am looking at share accommodation. Maybe we should be in touch..

person in adelaide so looking to meet new people when I get out there. I'm travelled most of australia six years

Im already here in Adelaide, so give me a buzz when you can. Im out and available most nights. And for anyone else who wants to meet up when you get here it would be great, there arent that many 30+ singletons around at the moment. Or maybe there are but they are in hiding or are forum creeps?!

We're all on the same boat on this thread. Would be great to meet up when we all finally make the move.

 

Rich almost there my man. A few complications back home, but I'm hoping to pack up and leave in a month or so, if not maybe mid September.

Poms In Oz meet at Hallett Cove Uniting Church the first Sunday of every month in the Winter and on Noarlunga Beach in the summer. Usually meet at 2pm. There is a sticky on the website somewhere about it.

Hi, I'm Phil, I'm 31 from South Cumbria and will be flying out on the 26th June, arriving 28th June.

My container is being packed today. Which makes it all official. No turning back now.

I will be living in North Adelaide, it would be great to meet up with you all when I get there.

I am also coming out on my own so I would love to meet up with as many people as I can.
