Hello all!

Well I'm very lucky to have received a job offer and I'm making the move to Adelaide in mid to end of September. Just awaiting the company to sort the visas before I get my final flight dates... Considering 4 weeks ago I had no idea I was coming it is all very sudden and daunting but extremely exciting! Thank god for this forum though!!! Got loads of questions but will post in the separate threads, already seen so many great tips and words of advice :D

As a starter, I will be coming on my own first and my partner arriving after Xmas, looking for a place to live that's vibrant and good for young couples/professionals? Have been looking in the CBD, North Adelaide, has anyone any recommendations?

Lastly looking to make friends and socialise with people within my age range, so if anyone wants to meet for a drink, give me a shout!

Liz

Hi and welcome to the site. Do you know where you will mostly be working? Will you be getting a car, or will you be relying on public transport, or cycling perhaps?

If I was in your position, I think I would be looking at somewhere within easy reach of the city so yes, North Adelaide, central Adelaide, or somewhere like Norwood or Unley would be good. Best of luck with all the last minute stuff, and hopefully Adelaide will start warming up for you very soon!

I'd agree with Diane. If I was young and childless I'd definitely by looking at North Adelaide or Norwood (don't really know Unley). Alternatively if you wanted to be near the beach then Glenelg would be an option. There is a tram that goes directly from Glenelg to the CBD so would be handy if you were working in the city.

Interesting... Im designing parts of the new hospital at the moment. Are you consulting or construction?

Anyways, I live in the city, so give me a shout if u need anything when you get here. September is about the right time to come, as Winter has been pretty wet so far.
