Hi ,

We are just starting out, got tons of questions, trying hard to research as well as look after 2 kids. Not using an agent as can not afford it so got lots to learn.

My OH is a graphic designer as we are hoping to go out on a 475 provisional visa. Just wanted to meet any other designers moving or living in Adelaide.

Hi Clare,

We are just starting out also, we have been advised to apply under Graphic Pre-press tradesman 4911-11. We are looking at the SRS Provisional visa sub class 475. We are just preparing our paperwork for the Skills Assessment, but we are waiting for references etc from previous employers. My OH is in the Design/Print Management field.

Cheers

Hi Trevali,

I am also applying under the 475, under marketing specialist ,and like you gathering paperwork, where have you seen that you need to send references from employers. I thought it was just copies of qualifications - have I missed something somewhere?

Hi, If you are currently employed then you need a statement of service from your employer. If you feel that you cannot approach them, then you need to look for references from colleagues and/or other people you work with eg customers/suppliers etc. You need to be able to back up your claims that you have worked where you have done. If your previous employers no longer exist then you have to tell them that in a statutory declaration. Once you have all the necessary documentation this then needs to be certified by a notary i.e. JP or Solicitor or some cases you can use teachers, doctors (but you need to double check this). This information came from the TRA Skills Assessment Application Guidelines. This we obtained from our agent. Hope this helps.

I'm a GD going on the 475 visa, using an agent, done the skills bit moving on to the main visa app now, getting all the paperwork for that at the moment. So far I have just done qualifications for the skills assessment, references will be needed for the main visa.

Jobs seem a bit thin on the ground from what I have seen online, I not fussed as I'm keen to have a good look around before we pick an area to settle, but I don't have kids to worry about so I'm at an advantage there!

good luck with the self app I'm sure its doable with the help of sites like this, I'm keen to get going so am taking the easier route. Hope to hear from you again as its always good to know people with similar backgrounds and share experiences.
