Hello to you all

My name is jimmy wife is Paula kids Hannah and Elle; I have just got a job with transadelaide we are from Manchester and cant wait to get to Adelaide I will be based at mile end train station, so have been looking at staying at Henley beach? Has anybody got any information on the schools in that area my Hannah will be going to high school and Elle to primary ,I will be going on a working visa and was told it will take 3 to 4 months fingers crossed well thanks for reading this and any info will be greatly welcome

Lucky you going to live in Henley that was one of the places I wanted to go to..but looks like we will be going further north now due to family being up there.

Hi there,

Henley Beach is a lovely beach, and the suburb in general is nice. It's about 15 - 20 mins from Mile End depending on the traffic. The local high school has lots to offer, they are just redeveloping their performing arts area and will offer dance/drama. It also is a specialist school for soccer. Here is the web site.... www.henleyhs.sa.edu.au , on the web site somewhere there should be the context statement which will tell you background info on numbers of kids, facilities, the area it serves, whether the parent community is strong, special probs. http://www.decs.sa.gov.au/locs/ context statements for all schools in adelaide are here. The one for henley should say which primary schools feed into it. Most of the kids at schools in this area come from a stable background but like any large high school and teenagers there will be some ratbags.

 

Most schools put their newsletters on their websites. I found these helpful when I was looking at schools because it gives an insite into the day to day life at the school and what it finds important to celebrate, remind kids of behaviour etc.

Welcome to PIA! Congratulations on the job. Henley Beach is a lovely area some people I know through friends used to live there, we visited them when we were on holiday in Adelaide, its lovely & I think schools are good too. Good Luck
