Hi Gamba and Kerry,

Welcome to PIA and good luck with your Visa quest.

Sorry to hear about your experience with the agent. We also used an agent who we have been more than happy with (1st Contact). We paid two payments to them of £997 and this is on a no Visa no fee basis although I don't want to find out if they would honour that agreement!

We have left it all to them and haven't had any problems. They really have been very good and we don't think we would have had the time to do it our selves.

Again good luck

Martin and Val :)

Hiya

Have you had much communication from this agent??

Have you discussed your fears with them??

They may well be doing a lot of work in the background but still waiting in line for approval. Some visas take an absolute age to come through I'm afraid.

Let us know how you get on - agents should keep you informed on every step.

Must agree with Tyke, these things seem to take a life time and you do wonder if anything is being done at all. Give your agent a call and ask them whats going on.

We used 1st Contact Migration and they have been really good and we have no complaints about them.

Good luck

HI Tyke, Im afraid our agent isnt informing us every step. After two months of no contact i learned our case worker had left and no body else had been put up to speed with our case. That was just the start.Six months on still no further so we have asked for a refund as we feel we are been led down the garden path. After reading many posts we have seen a few agents names come up again and again,so we have got in touch with a few and we shall try again.Have you come across this type of thing before?it realy has freaked us out!!

Hi Gamba and kerry, I know what you mean about agents- its an absolute minefield. We chose an agent then got our money back and went with another company as the first were so expensive and being naive to it all at the time thought that was the going rate. Anyway we are now with Emigration expert and are hoping things work out. Cant give an opinion on them either way yet. Good luck though and i hope you get sorted out. Yvonne

Hi Gamba and Kerry

Choosing an agent is a nightmare - we ended up going to some emigration seminars so that we could see the people face to face and saw what we thought of them.

We're using Visa Go - again on a no visa no fee basis - but so far they're been fantastic. You can ask them anything, they contact us to see how we're getting on with forms etc - nothing seems to be too much trouble.

Hope you get sorted soon - good luck and let us know how you get on.

I decided to go with a company called ptlabs in Sydney, the reason for my decision is that the guy is an ACS specialist, the first agent i contacted siad we would only get a provisional visa, whereas PTLabs told me I could get in on the MODL list. and also he charges AUS$1200 for the skills assessment and AUS$1200 for the visa (plus all usual fees), which works out quite cheap compared to some prices i have seen banded about.

But, Its a big waiting game, they take forever to process things. Like Tyke says, ring them and tell them your problems.

Hi, so sorry to hear you have been messed about. We are using 'The Emmigration Group' based in Chester and they have been brilliant. We used them as they got one of our friends a visa within 9months and he is living in Sydney now. We started discussions with them August 07, got our skills passed in December 07, SA sponsorship just come through and now its the visa application. They have been really quick and constantly in touch, the only delay was me getting all my stuff together.

I can highly recommend them although we are not there yet!! So far we have no complaints.

I hope you get yourselves sorted, once you start you don't want anything to get in the way.

Good Luck

Hi! I am Tony and I have also just joined this amazing site last week. Like yourselves I have only just applied about gaining a Skilled Migration Visa, my girlfriend, my two teenage kids and I are wanting to emigrate to West Adelaide. I have extensively researched many companies which may or may not help you with visa applications and in my opinion the best company and the one I have used was from the Sun newspaper. This company is called Immigration Unit (Telephone 01784 97690) they said to me that they have got more people into Australia than any other company and they will return our fee if they do not gain us a suitable visa. The fee we paid was £145.00 - for this they get me a visa - a job and somewhere to live. It takes about 6 weeks to receive a report which explains everything about the process. Roughly taking 6 months from start to finish. They keep you informed and very nice on the telephone.

We used Visa Bureau. They kept us informed all the way. From start to finish it took 12 months to obtain our visas. Even when our case worker left we were allocated another straight away. All queries were answered quickly and they gave us valuble information with regards to movers and banking. Keep plugging away at them and if you have no joy move onto another agent. Good luck!!!

Hi Tony

I take it the £145 is for just for them to confirm that you are eligible for the Visa and not for the whole process.

As we paid approx £4000 this included agents fees, medicals, police checks & Australian Government Fee.

This was with Visa Connections who got us the 136 Permanent Visa within 10 months.

I would maybe check with your agent as £145 seems very low for an agent, never know it might be right but better to check anyway.

Cheers

Derek & Jak
