Do any of you have any ideas on where you would like to live in Adelaide? Our favourite suburbs seem to change on a weekly basis - and whenever we look at a nice house rental online in a different area :D but are looking at the southern and wetern suburbs along the coast.

Hi Lisa

We are not sure where we want to be. It all depends on good schools really. After our reccie last year we concluded that we preferred the Western and Southern suburbs and we're keen to be as close to the beach as poss. Brighton is really nice but a bit hefty on price so we may look at neighbouring subs.

Hi All

We keep hearing good things about South Adelaide,Aberfoyle Park and Happy Valley two that spring to mind,15 minutes from the beach 15 minutes from the mountains, sounds pretty good to us.

Hi,

We are at Seacliff Park which is South Brighton, not far from Aberfoyle Park, we absolutely love it, its a great area 1.5km from the beach and great views across the city to the sea.

Highly reccommend this area.

Regards,

Paul

:D Hi Paul

Thank you for the tip,we'll be taking a closer look there and from what we've heard South Adelaide seems to be the area we're going to look at the most and the idea of being near the sea and not too far from the mountains is really appealing, especially compared to where we are,the middle of Hertfordshire,ha ha Our nearest beach is Clacton on Sea !!

Hi Lisa

Know what you mean - it's a minefeld!

When we first started looking the suburbs further South looked great but when we did some research, everyone was telling us not to look too far South as it became a bit Hill Billy. Thing is that what you read on the web especially from Estate Agents web sites looks wonderfull that you need someone to take off the rose tinted specs for while - that's why I love sites like this.

Don't decide on a suburb until you are here and have a drive around. Take your time in deciding as well - look at as many house opens as you can and don't put an offer on a house unless you are 100% sure (that's if you are buying). My advice is to look for a house after you've found a job which is not be more than a 30 minute drive from home to workplace.

We live in Seaford which is 40 minutes south of the City. Its great here, right by the sea, great drive-on beach, affordable housing, has loads of shops, good decent schools, right at the bottom of the Southern Expressway and is not a feral area. What more could you want?

Hi all

Yes, if im not on this forum or 'the other one' then Im trawling through all the homes on realestate.co.........totally like you lisa, see lovely homes in all different suburbs, and each time we think about where we might go, someone says about a different area, which I then go and investigate and it totally confuses me!

My husband would like to live near a beach, but I dont really mind...I think we're going to rent for a while and have a proper look once we're there..........But, whatever happens - I would like a nice big house with a spa (maybe not a pool as too much hassle), and a rumpus room!! (gotta have one the them!)

Its exciting isnt it!

Sounds lovely - can't wait to look around and see them all for myself. My wish list woud be:

pool

near beach

rumpus room

large kitchen /diner so I can keep the kids seperated during the bun fight that is dinner time!!

good schools

friendly neighbours

garden with no spiders or snakes

Don't want much do I????? :)

I am also confused, I was thinking South / South East, but can get a bit pricey then my OH started looking North !!

Its hard to know where to rent as you need somewhere in between - does anyone have any suggestions ?

If we don't opt for OAA then we will maybe use a holiday park initially, then look quickly for a rental / schooling.

Oh & Ashley needs to find work, forgot that 'little' bit :!: :!:

I find this bit interesting but its not getting any easier to 'pin point' any one particular area.

I guess we will have to a good look around when we arrive ! Can't wait its freezing today.

Hi Guys

I have got a real buzz reading your emails. I have been living in Nottingham for 3 years after getting married to an English girl. I am desparate to be getting back down to Adelaide but she is still a bit unsure!!

On the whole where to live thing, I grew up in Tea Tree Gully. It is 30 minutes from the city on the O Bhan bus way and is full of parks and you get great value for your property $.

It is 40 minutes from the beaches which is fine really as when your there you will get over the whole spend every day at the beach thing.

I would give my left leg to be heading back there soon.

Tea Tree Gully is one of the only areas north we have looked at and it does look lovely. Still have the feeling we will end up in the south as want to be as close to the sea as possible :D

Sea views even better :D miss living near the ocean and can't wait to be able to go for quiet early morning walks.
