Christian Schooling in the south ....

Hi, We are new to the site and moving to Adelaide early to mid 2014. We are looking at 4 schools and a bunch of areas and wondered if anyone could give us direction? The schools are Emmaus, Temple, Sunrise and Portside (all christian colleges). Any information or advice on these or the areas to live in the school areas would be great.

Thank you so much.

Hi There are 2 Emmaus schools in Adelaide- Emmaus Catholic Primary in Woodcroft and Emmaus Christian College in Plympton. My son currently attends Emmaus in Woodcroft. It is a small catholic school approx 280 students. He started in May when we transferred to Adelaide and settled into Grade 3 well. Everyone is friendly, there is no bullying and the staff are pleasant. Academically I do not think it is as good as his previous school - there is not too much emphasis on grammar - but they do offer extension groups for the more academically inclined. The parents also run after hours school sport which is well manager and fun for the kids.

Emmaus Christian School, formerly Tabor College, formerly Bethesda is highly religious. My oldest son went there for 3 years (Grade 6 - Year 8). I found the education excellent but it was just too overly religious for him (and us).

Hope this helps
