Just wanted to say Hi to everyone:wubclub:

 

We are a family of four hoping to be in Adelaide before the end of the year. Have applied for a 457 visa and have got our medicals in a fortnight.

 

The kids are 11 & 13 , the youngest can't wait to go the older one changes her mind from one week to the next. Just hope in time she will appreciate why we want to do this (fingers crossed anyway). I can only hope !

 

We will be bringing along our choccy lab and on agreement with the kids also our cat yes I have had some quotes and they are scary but they are part of the family couldn't even consider leaving them so I suppose you could say we are a family of six .

Welcome to PIA - lots of lovely people on here:)

 

Good luck with the medicals. My eldest is the same - changes her mind constantly, although I think deep down she is quite looking forward to it - she won't admit that to me!

 

We're taking out Border Terrier and the cat (not leaving anyone behind) and yep they're not cheap are they! But hey ho, as you say they are part of the family.

There are a few of us on here in Lincs. I'm sure both of your children will be fine once they get there. Your eldest of course will never admit it.

 

Good luck with the medicals. They really are nothing to worry about. We did ours in Sheffield. Where are you going to have yours done??

The meds are at York. But only kids having them our agent has told us we dont need them. We are all having the xrays though. Does that sound odd to anyone or just me ??

I thought everyone had to have a medical, or does it depend on your visa type ? Or am I just being a bit blonde !!

How strange. I think you had better contact your agent and ask them to explain why. As far as I'm aware everybody needs to have a medical. Get it sorted now otherwise you may find a delay as rhe CO will bound to ask you for yours.

So its not just me that finds it odd then ! I thought i had read the email wrong but when I printed off the paperwork he had sent, there were only two forms for the meds which already have the kids names inserted.

He said the kids need them as they will be attending school.

But just said we werent required to have them .

 

Will have to wait till monday to contact him now I was stressing before but now I know others find it odd I will be stressing all weekend .

As you say hopefully someone may know why but there dont seem to many people applying for the 457

Just been looking at the immi site. Have a look at..... http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/health-requirements/index.htm

 

It appears that if you are on a visa that doesn't lead to being a permanent resident then you don't need one. Are you only intending to live in Oz for 3 years and then return to the UK???
