Hi to all :), just a thought , hoping to be in adelaide soon !! , wondering what to bring with us .R.E. flat screen tv"s fridges , washing machines etc [ Expensive items] , , these items seem to cost so much over there . Is it worth buying NEW and bringing them with you [ or old ] as the cost of these items are reducing in the uk at the mo, especially large tv"s . Can you just pack new stuff in your container , but more importantly will they all work over there.

THANKS in advance

Wayne n Loiuise. :) [ Waiting on house sale]

Hi

We would have brought our washing machine but we had lost the transit bolts. OH had had a tidy out the week before and had thrown them out!!

I would say if your white goods are working fine bring them - they will work fine here - just need to change the plug.

We debated whether or not to bring our LCD TV - we did in the end - plugged it in and we get all the normal channels without using a set top box! If it hadn't worked we could have bought the set top box or just used it for the UK DVD and games.

You can pack new stuff in your container but you are supposed to declare it - you will then have to pay tax here again. As long as you have owned it for at least a year you don't pay tax.

This is what we found out.

Hope it helps, good luck

Julie

we brought our TV washing macheine and tumble drier. They all work fine. The only thing is we can't use the washer and dryer togerther as they use too much power and blow the fuse. I would definatly bring them if you have space.

:)Most electrical items seem to work ok over here, but not sure that they are more expensive , we bought a Samsung washing machine (frount load) which was a 4 star model you get $200.00 rebate back which made it a bargain at $450.00. Remember you get the chance to haggle over here which is good fun..!!

Just wanted to add that we were pleased that the Good Guys branches over here offer discounts if you pay cash. We decided to leave our white goods as we had to rent our house out in the end, so had to buy fridge freezer, washer and tumble drier. We splashed out on a big fridge freezer with an ice and water dispenser, but the washer and drier were very reasonable, total around $850 taking into account the $200 rebate on the washer, so just over £400 for both machines. Also the service in store - we used the Noarlunga branch - and delivery service was excellent.

:)Yes the rebate is for everyone , you just look out for the 4 star rating on washers and fill out the form ( remember to get the form when you buy the machine) and within a few weeks $200.00 appears in your account:jiggy:cheers Graham
