Hi everyone, what a great forum. Been reading messages by all of you thanks 4 all your help and advice. We hope to be in Adelaide early 2007. We are just awaitng our visas.Its been a long drawn out application( more paperwork than my old school days but well worth it.

We were lucky enough to be in Adelaide last October. The BBC have filmed a documentry on people thinking of immagration and we were picked to be on the show.Thy flew us out 4 10 days but gave us the option to go early and stay longer if we wanted at our expense and they met us 4 10 days whilst we were their. We stayed in the CBD 4 a week

then moved to a rental the BBC provided ( KPrentals very nice ) 4 10 days Then up 2 West Lakes 4 a week in a fantastic appartment overlooking the lake. We saw loads of Adelaid in a short time and it looks perfect. If anyone would like a drink and to meet a likewise family when we arrive we would love 2

How good is that, being filmed on BBC :!: I have an Australian & NZ magazine which mentions this show, I thought it started with Perth but its great news that SA & Adelaides included Looking forward to seeing it.........I love those lifestyle programmes.

 

Whats your thoughts on North or South Adelaide - any preferences ? My OH & I just can'd decide at the moment, we are working through the suburbs, slowly but surely.

 

I guess we will have a better idea once we arrive

Any idea when this BBC programme is on as really interested in watching. We are still in early stages although visa application must be in before May 07 as then over 45.

 

Never been to Australia but have friends living in Kensington which is near city centre.

 

Really looking forward to getting there hopefully January 2008.

Hi Ashton family

 

We went to Brisbane in August as part of the show, largely coz of school holidays. As teachers we couldn't go at any other time. Like you say we saw lots of Brisbane and it was an amazing opportunity. I like the fact that each programme will also have a focus about something to do with life in Australia as part of it. I think that will help me as I am a little nervous about the whole thing. As teachers, the focus of our programme is education, I think, although they were filming for new build accommodation as part of it.

 

For those interested, I think the cities were Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. Am I right Ashtons or have I forgotten somewhere? 20 families took part so it should make good viewing.

 

Anyway, we hope to be in Adelaide in May. I have been greatly encouraged by reading on this forum that once the bond, if you are paying it, is paid then the visas could be in passports within days. I find the waiting the worst part, wondering what is going on...I hate that bit. We had the medicals done on 9th December.

 

Once we get a date to go, I shall be busy planning my diary of social activities for when we arrive. Buying a house? Won't have time!

 

There are 4 of us, Libby 35, Bob, 45, Emily 13 and Sophie 10. The idea of us going was Bob's as he has always dreamt of this. I lived abroad as a child and don't mind the idea of living in Oz although I have quite mixed feelings about all this at times. I announced last night that I have changed my mind and am going to France instead.

We were told about the programme back in October by our friends Nik and Liz who's house (KP Rentals) you stayed in :lol:

 

Looking forward to watching it but hopefully mssing the end as we will be in oz with any luck. Heard it starts in January for 20 episodes.

Wow! what a great opportunity you both had!........How did you find out about the show and how did you get picked?

 

Really looking forward to watching it......I remember watching a documentary a few years ago about families emigrating.....but as we werent thinking about the big move ourselves, I didnt pay that much attention....but will not miss a thing this time!!

This site has been a godsend to me and i feel like i have made friends here as well as over in oz.

Gosh you were really lucky to be able to go over like that for a t.v show, i would love to see it but i will be in oz[i hope] but i will tell my mum about it she loves things like that.

Well good luck and hope to meet you for a cold one when you get your visa, the same goes to every one else on this site , we really will all have to get together, anyway i must go now as i have loads to do :lol: :lol:

With regards to the programme, I believe its going to be called Wanted Down Under & you are right it will be shown in Jan 2007 in the UK - theres supposed to be more info on:
