not sure on what to say here,

myself, husband and daughter are new to adelaide and are loving it (although the heat at the moment is melting us). we moved here in august from derbyshire in england. we would love to talk to other people from the uk and if anyone knows of some groups or meetings with other poms that would be great.:)

this is my first time using poms in adelaide so i would welcome some help and advice.

many thanks

Welcome to PIA,

There is a meet going on later this month on Moana beach. Date not finalised yet but you can see the thread in the socialising section.

A Liz asked, if you let us know where abouts you are we can let you know who is doing what near you. ;)

Hi Jayne

We're just across Linear Park to you in Highbury. Hoping to organise a girls night out next week so if you fancy it, it will probably be Thursday or Friday. Drop me a PM if you want to come along and I'll send you the details when I have them - it will probably be somewhere like the Tea Tree Gully Hotel. (I think on here to do that you click on my member name on the left hand side of this post then select Send PM or Send Email)

G'day,

We came over here in July and love it. We are from Derby. Lived in Derby all my life until 4 years ago when we decided to move to the east coast for a change. So where abouts in Derbyshire did you live? Just read other repliees to your thread.

Interesting as my parents are both from Worksop where i have relatives. Have lovely childhood memories off going to Clumber park there.

Don't miss living there. Loved it when i was a child but the roads are far too congested now. When i used to visit family it would take me 30 min just to get from one side of Derby to the other and then just another 15 min to reach Worksop once i left the city.

Thought I'd post this up here in case anyone else interested in coming along:

Girls night out, Thursday 12th Feb (that's a week this Thursday) Tea Tree Gully Hotel in the "conservatory-type" bit, 8 o'clock onwards. PM me if you'd like my mobile number so you don't have to walk in alone not knowing anyone. Everyone welcome, will possibly be bringing my Mum along as she'll be staying with us then, so all ages too!!

Hi Jayne,

Good to see you on here!!! Have you settled in your new house? Burton still as lovely as eva :biglaugh: Max had his practical yesterday in Accrington. Will keep ya posted. You will be able to tell me all the best places to go by the time we get there. So how far away is Athelstone to Aldinga? Will it be hours to get to you?

Glad you are happy.

Hi Robert/Jayne,

We are also from Derby. Both born and grew up in Littleover. Husband moved to Mickleover until we married.

Only thing i miss is shopping in Derby. It had everything you needed. Westfield(Eagle centre) is great now. We find it very limited here but are finally getting used to the change. DIY is alot harder to do here too. Less choice and very expensive. Not enough competition. Have so many ideas for improving our house but cant find the materials. Need B&Q, homebase and Next. We have been spoilt.

Jo
