Hi

We are leaving UK on he 20th Sep (3 months today) ;)

Just wondered did any one use the Government of Australia meet & greet service and there 12 weeks public accommodation service when they arrived in Adelaide?

If so is it worth doing and what is the accommodation like?

We applied for OAA but did not get it as they were full when we arrived. We have seen others that friends were staying in and they are fine for the money paid.

They are very basic but clean. The oddest thing is that they just paint the breeze blocks on the walls rather than plastering them so looks a bit odd

We did get the Meet & Greet service and where collected at the airport by a couple who then took us to our accomodation and told us about the paperwork we would need to complete etc. They then took us to local shops to pick up anything we needed ;) We also got a free UBD which was great!

We were lucky enough to get the oAA - we were based in Novar Gardens just a 5 min drive from Glenelg.

It was a fab location for looking around and gave us a cheap base to find our feet from.

The accomodation itself was incredibly basic and quite depressing - torn lino, scruffy sofas and drab beige everything. However, at $128 a week all in it really was cheap. It also gave us a huge incentive to get our fingers out and find somewhere of our own.

We met some other people who were around the corner from us and theres was a bit more expensive but quite a bit more modern and bigger too.

If you think of it as just a base, you will be fine.;)

Our OAA was great and so convenient - the breeze blocks were strange though!

It was clean, cheap, central and one less thing for us to worry about before leaving home. I would recommend it.

The couple that picked us up were fab as well - so enthusiastic and welcoming.

It sounds like it can be a bit of a lottery though!
