    16 year old daughter!!!!!!!!!!!!

When we initially thought about going our kids were about 5/7 years old- this in hindsight was the time to go, however we left it a few years until they were around 14/15 which was to late, the other thing that stopped us was fear of disrupting their schooling. It would have been nice to have given it a try but our decision was to stay which I don't regret one bit, I've lived abroad before & now couldn't think of a better place to be, my last post was stating a fact from my own & others experience, good luck

The point being missed here is you've left it to late....as babies/toddlers/infants we have complete control of their futures, however as they get older they make their own lives & decisions, just watch some of the wanted down under programmes, one of the main problems that arise is when the kids are to old having made their own lives at home & they don't want to go, we've gone through this & realised it was to late to uproot them.
  3. Hi all, for those like myself rapidly approaching 45yrs old & undecided, take comfort from a reply from Go matilda after my enquiry.... "The age limit for general skilled migration is still 44. It is anticipated that the age threshold will increase to 49 when a new points test is introduced on 01/07/2011" This may give people like me a bit more breathing space....Paul.

    Electrical

hi Tracey, I'm not out there yet,but as an electrician I have looked at the australian voltage which is the same as ours(240 volt) so you'll be OK with your Electrical gear, you may have to change the plugs, your TV may be an issue, if you have a pAL/NSTC option you should be OK, best someone there answer you that one, Paul.

    Adeaide flooding

yes i did see the end of the programme & London being washed away, but it wasn't the reason I asked the question, they may short of water & it may not rain a lot, but you are next to the sea, its something that has to be looked into & any one over there that could shed any light on this matter would be most appreciated
  10. Hi Everyone, could anyone tell me an approximate cost for me to transport our medium size dog & cat from the UK to Adelaide, if you could include the cost of quarintine and all vet fees as well, thanks for your help, Paul.

    Adeaide flooding

er no I didn't see the news last night, but its an issue you need to look into, just down the road from me in the UK, thousands of homes were wrecked(tewksebury) & I wouldn't want that if I moved

    Adeaide flooding

Hi Guys, to all those across there, could you tell me if Adelaide has an issue with flooding, it is something you have to think about as you would think twice about moving to a flood risk area in this country, I have found in past news there was a flood in 2005, how bad was it? did it only affect certain areas? how often do you get flooding? if at all? any advice would be most helpful, thanks, paul.

    Guess what ... ?!

Hi Ashley, firstly congatulions on you & your Families success, we are on the brink of taking the first step of this adventure, I notice your a spark like me, could you tell me what the vetasses process was like & whats involved in the practical test,I am hoping to avoid it by going in as a special class electrician just to avoid the cost of the practical, but if a have to go in as a General spark, so be it, i'd be grateful once your out there to keep this forum informed how your doing, ie is work plentiful, what the A class license studying/tests is like, thanks & good luck, Paul.
