  1. Thank you for your replies. I was thinking between 15,000 & 20,000 but will certainly save as much as possible. Hopefully I will secure a job before the move but obviously we don't know and need to save incase it doesn't work out like that for us. Exchanging the money as soon as sounds like a good idea also. Thanks for that
  2. Hi everyone I've been a lurker for a few days and I've enjoyed reading your posts. I'm a long way off applying to emigrate to Aus but I like to plan ahead! I'm in year 2 of an adult nursing degree so will be going over with a nursing skill. I would like 12 months experience under my belt before the move but would want to start applying asap after qualifying. I will be 33 when applying, my husband will be 37 and our Son will be around 11. OH won't be going over with a skill, he is hoping to get a driving job once there. We are seriously considering the move and would like to start saving asap. We rent our home so wouldn't have any money from a sale. It would literally be from savings and selling stuff. What is the true cost these days including nursing registration, English tests, visa, flights, renting when we are there? If we have a ball park figure we know what we are looking at financially. Any advice/help would be much appreciated, thank you :-)

    Newbie :)

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I've been a lurker for a few days as my husband and I are seriously considering a move to Aus when I have finished my Adult Nursing degree. I am in my 2nd year so our move is a long way off and ideally I'd like to get 12 months experience under my belt before I register in Aus as I don't want to be stuck getting a job. Our Son would be around 11 if we make the move when we'd like and my husband wants to get a job in hgv driving. We're not 100% adelaide is where we want to go but it certainly ticks alot of boxes. I am a planner and love lists so planning starts now with what we have to do in what order and also how much we should start saving each month. I love reading your stories and I am also a member of the Poms in Oz. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated even though I am in the very early stages. I am keen! Xx
