We both applied in December'18 mate, so let's hope it takes a year or less for us. Grants seem to be moving a bit faster now, so watch this space

    887 Visa - What's the update?

There may be less interest in the new visas if applicants find out how long it takes to get PR - maybe home affairs is trying to reduce the backlog to avoid this perception - hopefully

    887 Visa - What's the update?

It will be fine, as long as it is not more than a year old at the time of application, she will not need to prove Functional English again if the Department takes an extended period to grant the 887. Only the AFP may need to be provided again if more than a year old when nearing the grant date

    887 Visa - What's the update?

Average and overall means the same thing, you don't need a minimum of 4.5 band for each component. 'To prove that you have functional English you must provide evidence of one of the following: ... An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test result of an average band score of at least 4.5 based on the four test components of speaking, reading, listening and writing. How can I prove I have functional English? - Department of Home Affairs https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/about/.../how-can-i-prove-i-have-functional-english"

    887 Visa - What's the update?

If you did your IELTS test at the time of applying for 887 then you will not need to do it again, validity is always measured at the time of application

    887 Visa - What's the update?

Hi June, I did the same exercise 2 months ago and posted it here, not in a nice graph illustration as you have, but I could see the trend of 887 applicants drop after the peak from Oct 17 to Feb 18. I know it is based on our tracker but it may also reflect the general trend of less 489 visa holders which then results in less 887 applicants. Time will tell so I certainly hope that processing times will drop

    887 Visa - What's the update?

They will not work on public holidays

    887 Visa - What's the update?

Secondary applicants must do the English test again, or prove functional English even though this was done for a 489

    887 Visa - What's the update?

No Butt, nobody is obliged to join a WhatsApp action group, it should be voluntary. This forum is for prospective and current 887 applicants to gather and share info regarding the process. The current long wait times are frustrating and the department's performance is concerning, but certainly not a crime. I am sure many are happy to support a complaint to the ombudsman. Legal action should however be out of the question, in my opinion, it will take longer than you will wait for your grant.

    887 Visa - What's the update?

Now 15 points will be available if sponsored by a state or family member as opposed to 10 points for the original 489. Tough that they have to prove 3 years work before PR and 3 years residence in regional area, many would take 4 years to to cover 3 years of work + another year for applying for PR, which means it could take up to 5 years to get PR.

    887 Visa - What's the update?

Yip for English the cost is very high, so cheaper to pay for the English test ($380) + hotel + travel. Make it a weekend getaway

    887 Visa - What's the update?

In my opinion they will only request certified documents if they have any suspicions or simply are unable to rely on the copies .................or want to be 100% sure. But I may be wrong

    887 Visa - What's the update?

Ask your company to certify all documents related to work (if they have a JP) and I am sure the bank can issue original bank statements which can be certified

    887 Visa - What's the update?

This only affects new intakes, the replacement 489 visa may get a new subclass number so as not to get wires crossed with current legislation. If you have already applied for the 887 then you would be in the clear.
