    887 Visa - What's the update?

Hey @Megrand1, Thank you for taking the effort to write this letter. I fully support the pathway that this group is taking in addressing this issue to a member of the parliament. The wait is indeed endless and horrific. You requested some suggestions, so I'm taking the opportunity to address some concerns of mine. Please do not take this personally, you're doing a great job already and your time and effort is truly appreciated. In order to hopefully make this as successful as possible, please consider the following: Body of letter – use the EPIC format – Engage reader, state the Problem, Inform about solutions, and give a Call to action. In my opinion, your first paragraph states immediately the facts and the numbers rather than engaging the reader to learn to understand where the problem is coming from. I believe a better format would be is engaging the reader with triggering him with a few of the struggles we face on a daily basis due to the processing times. That will want him to understand and learn more about it. So maybe you can re arrange some paragraphs. I also remember a post of @TTTF in which he/she states a few questions to the DHA that might help in stating the problem and informing about solutions. That post is already from a while ago, maybe TTTF can repost to see if it might be helpful? I think it is important to suggest solutions, state questions and make the reader think about to problem. We need to try to make the letter as such that the minister kinda just has to forward it to DHA and ask them. " What is going on here? We have received a complaint that we need to address. Read this, answer the questions and tell me why we have such processing times and what are you going to do about it?. I hope you understand, Stellajane

    887 Visa - What's the update?

Maybe a good idea to contact SBS news again ? Last time I heard from Shamsher (SBS Punjabi) he was really keen to make an additional story. That was about 2 months ago I think, but at that given point there were a few positive days of grants so it wasn't really an issue then. I did make a post about it here. Shall I look for it and post again?

    887 Visa - What's the update?

@hussan I agree with June, test results have to be valid at the day when you lodge for 887. Doesn't matter if it expires whilst waiting on the grant. The IELTS test of my partner was actually only valid for 1 more day after I lodged our 887. So technically still within the time frame, but it scared me a lot hoping that they would acknowledge that and wouldn't ask for a new IELTS test. At the end, we got a direct grant (nov 19)

I only submitted the credits/payments of my payslips on my bank statement. Nothing more and nothing less. And I received a direct grant (applied aug 18 - granted nov 19)

    887 Visa - What's the update?

Call them, email them, 10x a day! I always live by the quote: "A 'no' you have, a 'yes' you can get. But you need to ask. " Is there any particular reason that you reckon might have caused the delay your application?

@nudgee I thought you mentioned in a previous post not long ago that you received a reply on your complaint stating that you were going to be contacted again within 15 business days. That didn't happen?

    887 Visa - What's the update?

Hi @Seacity112, yes I'm still here. Waiting to see some grants for some people here that have helped me during my process. Love this community. You are correct and you should update your Australian police clearance certificate (preferably before it expires). I'm glad to hear that you noticed this and you are intending to update. You can request a new police clearance certificate yourself, through the following website: https://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/services/criminal-records/national-police-checks Please know that even when you have applied through an agent, you can make an account yourself on immiaccount, and upload your application from there to attach the documents yourself. You only need to know your 887 application number from your agent which he should give to you.

I do not believe that being employed will be considered as proof of English for your partner. I strongly suggest that your partner takes the IELTS test.

    887 Visa - What's the update?

Okay, this is different and I have no knowledge to this. I'm only referring to functional English as a result of an IELTS test. Your case may be different. Hope someone else can help you further with this.

    887 Visa - What's the update?

If it is functional English and you have submitted it for your 489 application it is no longer valid unfortunately given the time that it takes to apply for your 887 was 2 years. Functional English is only valid for 12 months. If this is your case, I strongly recommend doing another IELTS test and uploading the results to your 887 application.

3 years depending on the level of English achieved. Functional English is only 12 months valid.

    887 Visa - What's the update?

@Hope this is a question where you can find the answer to on our excel tracker under the tab FAQ for 887 applicants. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ApeHDAjEH60WFBNLeq14wvGzegiqGC4KD0U-OyH_w6U/htmlview# Please have a look there. Hope you'll get your grant soon!

    887 Visa - What's the update?

Depends on the CO, but I can assure you that it wasn't a problem in our application. BUT if you use aliases to your name and use different ones on different documents it might be a problem. Then you will need police certificates for all your aliases. But for first names and middle names usage it shouldn't be a problem.

    887 Visa - What's the update?

To ALL whom are above the 12 months waiting period. I'm reposting my post above from last week. Altough I already have received my PR, I do believe it will be of great help if you write Shamsher your story. TAKE ACTION - If you have complied to your visa conditions - have NO FEAR of getting your story published in the news. Good luck!

    887 Visa - What's the update?

ACTION REQUIRED FROM ALL US NEW SBS NEWS ARTICLE IN THE PIPELINE Hi guys, last August-September 2019 we - as the 887 community on this forum - experienced some true struggles as the DHA was increasing the processing times over and over again. At that given point it was up to 23-24 months processing times. Really happy to see that they have decreased the processing times now, but still they are a loooong wait if you're waiting on your grant to further built up your life. On this forum a few people organised some media attention and a few articles were published on SBS Punjabi. And with some success! My personal story was published also within one of those articles and YES we did receive our direct grant on 11/11/19. I do believe that the media attention did trigger something with DHA as a lot of 887 applicants did receive an additional email stating that their case was going to be assessed soon. Anyway... media attention is great to address the never ending limbo 887 applicants are in. DHA should decrease the processing times to at least an appropriate level as we all have been in the country for 2 years already. Mr. Shamsher Kainth from SBS Punjabi contacted me today again to follow up on my case and requesting if I did receive my grant, hence that he is ON the case and that he does care. HE WANTS TO WRITE A NEW ARTICLE FOR SBS REGARDING THE STRUGGLES WE'RE FACING WHILST WAITING FOR OUR PR. his email address: shamsher.kainth@sbs.com.au He needs to have information from you! Please write him a letter to describe what your struggles are, why your case seems to be delayed (asking for additional paperwork whilst already provided, not getting the information for the baby medicals on time, not getting another job application because you're temporary, al those things,..), what you want from DHA (more clear information regarding processing times, better communication,...) and what you reckon could improve. Grab this opportunity with both hands. Every media attention that you can have is great. Cheers, Stellajane. @TTTF@Dee@nudgee@Megrand1@TakeItOnTheChin@887 2019@Skaur@SUDIP@Hope

    887 Visa - What's the update?

It regards to the labelling and organising documents for your application. What also helps is to provide a document which is called: DECISION READY CHECKLIST.pdf I did it in my application. (I received our direct grant 11.11.19) You create that document yourself (in Word for example) and in that document you provide your CO a full overview of all documents provided in your application. For example: "Hi Case Officer, Thank you for reviewing my application. I thought it was a good idea to give you an overview of all documents I supplied to make it easier for you when you assess our application. Please find enclosed: Proof of identiy: - doc 1 xxxx.pdf > passport - doc 2 xxx.pdf > birth certificate Proof of residency: - doc 3 xxxx.pdf > lease agreement doc 4 xxx.pdf > utility bill and so on..." It is also a good guideline for yourself to see if you have submitted all necessary documentation. An agent I spoke with told me this TIP which apparently case officers really like so I immediately created such document and uploaded that in my application. If you call this document "Decision ready checklist" your CO will definitely open this document first and use it as a guideline going through your application. Hope it helps! Good luck to all!

    887 Visa - What's the update?

Waiting for final result? Yes, most of them. Ignore updating? There will be a few of them but I reckon that those are only a minority. Being rejected? I reckon that is very unlikely. I have not heard many stories of applicants that have been rejected PR. Dept. ignored them and jumped ahead? Very true! And really frustrating for those left behind.
