Can’t see this has been posted. Pay attention!!
It appears there is a rapidly closing window of opportunity to pay missing National Insurance contributions to enhance your State Retirement Pension when you reach that age.
Firstly read the article in the Daily Mail https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/pensions/article-11886127/Last-chance-boost-state-pension-100-000.html
You can check your National Insurance contributions at https://www.gov.uk/ and your State Pension forecast at https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension
You will need to confirm your identity which you do by entering personal info on their site plus downloading an app to your mobile phone. Via the app you will take a photo of your passport and scan the biometric chip and you will also use thecamera to take an image of your face. Note - when scanning the biometric chip do not close the passport and scan the cover as the illustration suggests. Instead scan the page in the passport that contains the data (it's the thick one).
On the gov.uk site form NI38 which explains what’s what. Read pages 6-10 carefully as it’ll tell you which class you’d need to pay. Form CF83 is the application form itself. Bothe are attached here, hopefully.
If you are interested you should complete form CF83 and send it off as soon as possible. It must be received by HMRC before 31 July 23. Express International Post is probably the best option but you’ll have to also obtain a manual customs clearance form from Auspost as their online QR code version won’t accept the UK postal address the form has to be sent to.
Final notes:
The Daily Mail article shows the rate for Class 3 contributions but if you’ve been in full time employed work you should be eligible for Class 2 which are considerably cheaper. To support this I was advised to include a list of all employment I’ve done since arriving in Australia.
Hope this helps someone.
