I got a car on finance

Well I was quite surprised and very pleased with ourselves today we took a wild chance today by attempting to get finance on a car after only being here for three months. Soon as we arrived I purchased a 340,000 km Holden Barina, which has very weak breaks, CV Joints gone and the accelerator cable sticks. No power steering as well. For $1000. We went to a Toyota Dealership on Port Road thought I would give it a chance. We chose the following car and offered $1000 deposit and also added tinted windows to the overall price. http://www.cmitoyota.com.au/used_cars/3451?from_search=true We ended up being accepted for finance and purchased this car for $750 a month. So I am well happy no more driving a death trap, the son has now got that car, lol.

    Importing your Vehicle

Hi, I'm a newbie poster though have watched the site for a few years. Diane (moderator) has already passed my contact details on to several people with queries about bringing over their cars, as I brought mine over in 2008. I thought it would be a good idea to summarise my exerience along with some tips and hints from someone who has been through the process, however when it got to 2 pages of A4 I decided that it was too long to post! If anyone wants to know how it works, please PM me or contact me at the email address in the signature and I will send them the whole shebang. BTW thanks to Russell for his encouragement to 'happy' migrants to post. He is right - if only those with gripes contribute the overall effect is sad and depressing. Isn't that what we came here to get away from guys? Never look back - you trip over yourself!
  4. CAR NOW SOLD I am selling my Mitsubishi Magna after upgrading to a Verada Its a 1989 (TP) and has done 270k. Rego until October. Its a 2.6 auto sedan in white The good bits. Very tidy inside for a car of this age. It has just had a new alternator and battery. It starts and drives very well and it has never let me down. Driven daily and regularly serviced since I have owned it I have only ever run it on 98 octane petrol from mobil Never smoked in. No unusual noises for a car of this age Now for the bad bits. There are a couple of rust spots above the rear wheels. I have been told the CV joints may need replacing soon, easy fix for the DIY mechanic. Viewing and test drives welcome. Car is at Aldinga Beach I would like to sell it for $900 ono. If your interested call me on 0435 425 528 (preferably after 3pm) or PM me on here Lee
  5. Last night (Saturday 20th Feb) at approximately 01:20 am I was driving well within the speed limit of 60 KM. Police pulled me over and I wound my window down. The first thing to policeman said to me - can you get out of the car so I can breathalise you. Scared because so many different people told me various stories about the Police and what is the legal limit to drink alcohol, whilst driving. I had been to our first Ozzie BBQ that evening and I had only had two bottles of Lager, the most recent one only an hour before I was driving home. The Policeman asked me what I had drank and when was the last time I drank, which I mentioned about an hour ago. I took the test and passed what a relief. Then he tooked me to may car and pointed to my back number plate and stated that he could charge me with a $550 fine for inappropriate number plates, I was shocked nothing wrong with the number plates. The Policeman mentioned and showed me that the background of the number plate is flaking away and chipping away. Nothing wrong with the actual large black solid numbers, just the surrounding plate. He mentioned that I have to go to the driving licence place and ask and pay for a replacement number plate, which will take three weeks to arrive. This is weired I understand if the acutal plate numbers were falling off or unreadable, even if its covered in dirt and needs cleaning so the Police can read the number plate. But a bit of flaking is way over the top.
