Hi All Car experts, I am planning to buy a new car and want to choose from one Cherokee or Outback. I would really like to go for Jeep - but everybody around me suggesting Jeep is not reliable and maintenance is expensive. On the other hand Subaru is reliable and less expensive maintenance. Before I go for one - can you guys suggest anything in perspective to Adelaide ?

Hello all, I've been scouring carsales.com.au and drive.com.au for well over 6 months now to get an idea of the car market down under, I have seen that used cars in Victoria are consistently cheaper than in SA, the price difference on the particular model i'm looking at is about 3-4K. I think because its a supply and demand thing. So my question is, is it advisable for me to buy a car Melbourne and drive it over Adelaide? If so what is the procedure for registration and stamp duty etc? While googling the subject I found this, So if you are buying from Vic, but don't have a Vic address you can 1. ask the seller if they will let you drive the car back to SA and then cancel the rego and re-register in your name, pay stamp duty in SA (assuming it is already registered). 2. transport the unregistered car back to SA and arrange a RWC and register it in SA, pay stamp duty in SA. 3. obtain a unregistered vehicle permit in Vic, drive the unregistered car back to SA and arrange RWC, pay stamp duty and reg in SA. As far as I know, you won't have the option of transfering into your name in Vic. Also, there is no such thing as an actual 'transfer' of registration between states.. it is always a case of – cancel rego in old state – re-register in new state. Thanks in advance

I am selling my Ute as I am moving abroad in a few months time. The car has served me well since I arrived in Adelaide in December 2011, and never let me down (I am the second owner). In addition to all the standard feature of the Actyon Sports it has the following extras: - Leather Seats - Bull bar with Two Spot lights - LED daytime running lights - Reversing sensor - Parrot 9000 Blue Tooth hands free/MP3 player - VICS Lined canopy - Tow Bar - Spare set of Speedy 19" low profile alloys and tyres It's done 89,000 Km's Price is $12,900 ono It has been regularly serviced and has a full service history and was just serviced 1,000Kms ago The tyres are almost new and have 7mm of tread on all of them, I recently replaced the low profile alloys with the standard alloys and put new tyres on at the same time. New battery purchased in July last year (receipt and guarantee supplied). The car has not been used offroad or as a tradies vehicle. The only thing on the car that stopped me describing it as very good condition is it has a few scrathes from other careless car owners from car parks -- these have been touched up but are noticable upclose. This car has a economical 2.0 litre turbo diesel litre engine.Selectable 4X4 FEATURES It has electronic brake force distribution (EBD). It has cargo tie down hooks/Rings, bedliner, driver & passenger airbags, tachometer and multi-function steering wheel, cruise control and centre console storage compartment. The car is advertised on Cars Guide where there are more photos ---there are only three Ssangyong Actyon's for sale in SA so finding it should be no problem. Please PM me for more details.

After spending $30,000 on a mercedes van for work, it's since been stalling, running rough, oil leak, suspension issues, warning lights coming on, and that's just for starters! Ive now owned it for 2 months and its like talking to a brick wall dealing with their service department. The manager is a rude, know it all jobs worth. The don't reply or acknowledge emails or care how long I'm off the road, being self employed that's GREAT! for an raa approved repairer, they are not giving theirselves a good reputation when I've got to pay $400 for an actual raa inspection to pick up on all the issues they have missed (or just don't care about). Then I've got to pay another $120 to the raa for a follow up inspection to make sure they have done the job properly?? Hang on a minute. Also when informed about the van cutting out at major intersections they put it on their computer but said no problems and gave it back. I then took it to mercedes for a second opinion and was informed there was a whole range of faults to be looked at, which they did at $222.00, to which the manager said they would certainly not pay for that! All this is within the 3 month warranty period, a joke that is. At at this moment in time I am expecting to be picking the van up today as they have supposedly done some of the bits on it but I'm really not confident it would have even been in on the pit. Another 4 days no transport and taxis, late starts and early finishes to drop off and pick up. all I want is a reliable motor and I'm telling you now I'm over it. Frustrated ain't the word! Anyone else had had a drama with these cowboys?? Hi, I'm a newbie poster though have watched the site for a few years. Diane (moderator) has already passed my contact details on to several people with queries about bringing over their cars, as I brought mine over in 2008. I thought it would be a good idea to summarise my exerience along with some tips and hints from someone who has been through the process, however when it got to 2 pages of A4 I decided that it was too long to post! If anyone wants to know how it works, please PM me or contact me at the email address in the signature and I will send them the whole shebang. BTW thanks to Russell for his encouragement to 'happy' migrants to post. He is right - if only those with gripes contribute the overall effect is sad and depressing. Isn't that what we came here to get away from guys? Never look back - you trip over yourself!

Ford Mondeo 1997 Well maintained and good runner, recent full service and brakes just been replaced When we bought the car from an english family over a year ago they had just had the timing belt replaced, clutch renewed and new tyres. The exhaust in in excellent condition. We have kept the car maintained to a high standard as it was used by my wife and child and everything that needed doing was done as no risks taken where your children are concerned. The car has had no accident damage or dents no rust anywhere,although there is some flaking of the paint in area,s due to the sun the body colour is maroon and the car has nice alloy wheels. We bought this car when we first arrived in australia over a year ago and now due to older children moving over in next few weeks we need a larger vehicle. As it stands everything has been done to this car so to the best of our knowledge there is nothing to spend. WE have just put 3 months rego on the car so there is absolutly nothing to spend if you purchase this vehicle. The car was put up for sale a few months ago but we decided not to sell and keep it for our daughter to use , she has now moved on so grab a bargain.
