  1. Hello Ladies and Gents, After the wonderful success of our meet up last Friday (19th June) at BSS. We've decided to arrange a couple more. It was wonderful to meet so many nice people the other night. Thank you all for coming, and for bringing your partners/ friends. The next two will be as follows (providing you lovely people are interested). One on Friday 10th July from 7pm onwards in Adelaide CBD (open to suggestions of where), and another, long lunch from 12pm onwards on Sunday 12th July in Glenelg at The Moseley Hotel. As always there is no charge for any of this (you just purchase your own food and drinks). It's always a great chance to meet new people and have a bit of a laugh. It's open to anyone (Friday night is over 18s only as it will be in a pub), Sunday is open to people of all ages, and you don't have to be a POM - any and all nationalities welcome. Please register your interest for either event below, and feel free to invite others. Please also suggest a pub where we can meet on the Friday evening. I'll set up separate events pages for each event (you can come to both if you like). With the Sunday meal I will be asking for "firm" confirmations closer to the time so that I can book us a table. Looking forward to it!!
  2. Ladies and Gents, Who fancies meeting some new friends and having a little bit of a laugh by the beach whilst enjoying a nice lunch? We'll be having a long lunch from 12pm onwards TODAY (Sunday 12th July) in Glenelg at The Moseley Hotel. We've booked a table under the name "Karen Davies" in the downstairs restaurant. As always there is no charge (you just purchase your own food and drinks). It's always a great chance to meet new people and have a bit of a laugh. It's open to people of all ages, and you don't have to be a POM - any and all nationalities welcome. Please feel free to PM me or just turn up. I've set up an event on Facebook, the link is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1591820054403672/ **Incidentally, if you have kids and would like to bring them along, then you're very welcome: they do have a kids menu on the website, but there's no play area for the kids**
  3. Hiya folks. Having bought a property of our own, we'll be breaking the lease on our rental property in East Glenelg/Glengowrie just before Christmas. It's a decent sized 3 bedroomed house with a kitchen/diner and a large separate lounge. There's a good sized front garden and a private rear yard with a shed and a raised bed full of tropical plants. There's off road parking for two vehicles (one under a car port) and it's very near to both the tramline (Glengowrie station) and central Glenelg - we have found the location to be fantastic; you can drive to the beach in precisely four minutes or actually walk to Jetty Road in around 20 minutes, through parks and along public footpaths! The rent is only $330 per week (plus 6 week bond). Perhaps most imporatantly, this is a private letting and the landlord is very accomodating and helpful - we took out this let having just arrived in Adelaide, before we had securred any employment! At the time, there was no way we could have securred a rental through the normal agencies because not only were the viewings like a bun fight, but we couldn't amass the necessary points for consideration. We will be moving out on Thursday 19th December, so the house will be available from Friday 20th. If you would like to arrange a viewing, or if you have any questions please email. Cheers Karl
  4. OK gang, time to shake off the winter weather with a fun filled night out down at Glenelg. The flyer attached will give you all the information you need know to have a great night out on Saturday 21 July. So before the Olympic Games start, and the great British people put the ping back into pong.! get out of the house and have some fun with us..... It doesn't matter if you are a new arrival or been here a while, we welcome all.
  5. Hi there, I live in a small apartment block in Glenelg (5 in total) and our neighbour is about to move out this week so thought I'd post the ad for anyone looking in this area. It's a gorgeous 1880's building with lots of character, open fire places, polished wood floors etc. The neighbours are all quiet and friendly (not just saying that cos I'm one of them!) Location is amazing - it's just 150m to the beach (just south of Glenelg jetty) and a 7 minute walk to Mosely Square. It's one min walk to the main bus route through Glenelg too. Being away from Jetty Road you don't hear any noise from the pubs, but you're still super close to walk to the restaurants, shops, bars etc. It's going for $350 a week - it's a two bedroom plus sunroom which we use as a study/spare bedroom in our apartment with similar layout. All the rooms are huge - it's not your typical two bed apartment. It'd suit a single professional, couple or a small family. Check out pics here: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/glenelg/apartment-unit/glenelg-spacious-character-2-bedroom-appartment-close-the-beach/1002535795 Nothing in this for me except hoping to find awesome neighbours for our lovely little building! We bought our place in this block 18 months ago and love it, hope someone else would love living there too. Happy to answer any general questions about the building/area.
  6. Thought I would put this up to see if anyone fancies joining us for a girls night out We'll be down Glenelg, Saturday 4 February from 7.30pm Let me know if you want to meet up for a drink or three

    How is life in Adelaide?

Hi all We are a family with 3 lively boys, ranging in age from 5 - 13. We are just beginning the migration process. Originally we had wanted to go to Queensland, but our occupation is only being accepted in South Australia. Can anyone give us some honest opinions on the area, we want to be near the coast - Glenelg looks nice - we plan on running our own digital print studio - photo-art on to canvas (which we already do over here in the UK). Any advice information on areas, schools etc would be greatly appreciated. Do many home have pools? Been looking at houses for sale on line, and many don't seem to have them - look forward to hearing from anyone who has made the move, who may have similar family etc....
