  1. Hello Everyone! I would like to let you all know that we are going to be meeting for drinks on Friday 19th June from 6pm onwards at Bank Street Social. Anyone is welcome: new members, established ones, young, un-young (you just have to be over 18 as it's in a bar) :-) Only "rule" is that you must be friendly and try say hello to everyone (don't worry - we are all in the same boat and happy to meet new people - it's always a bit never wracking the first time). Details below for anyone who doesn't know where it is. Bank Street Social https://www.facebook.com/bankstsocial 48 Hindley Street, Adelaide SA 5000 FYI - this is one of those bars where they like you to 'dress appropriately' - so shoes, a nice top and skirt/ pants (basically no thongs). Who's game? PM me or message on here and we can set up an FB group or whatever
  2. Hello Everybody! Thought it might be nice to organise a little meet up in the CBD on Friday 21st November from around 5pm...just gauging interest right now - does this suit everyone? There's been some interest from a few different people of different ages and backgrounds so it really would be a 'free for all'. If you're interested how about you reply with your name, age, place of origin and a few interests - just so we can start the ball rolling and get a bit of conversation going? Also if you have a particular meeting place in mind then feel free to recommend I'll start it off with: NAME: Karen AGE: 33 years young FROM: North Wales INTERESTS: Live music, comedy shows, outdoor exercise, wine tours and nice food!

    My experience of PIA website....

Thought it might be useful for any newbies to hear about other people's experiences with PIA... I joined in January 2011 when I arrived in Adelaide on a working holiday visa, I wasn't sure what to expect at first as I've always joined social networks but, obviously, been careful to limit the information that I give out (safety first kids!!). Anyway, my experiences on PIA have been very positive, I've managed to meet some brilliant friends through here and have always received good advice from people on here. If you want to meet new people then go ahead and attend one of the meet ups (there's always plenty of them happening). I've found that whether you're here on your own or you have family with you, there's always someone that can relate and they are always happy to meet up and talk about their experiences. Moving to a new country can sometimes be full of bumps and surprises and it can also be a bit lonely....but, in my experience, there's always a few people on here that can relate to that. So don't be shy - get to know some people, introduce yourself; tell them where you're from, who you're with, what your hobbies and interests are and ENJOY the experience, I know I did (yes, it is nerve wracking waiting in a cafe or pub to meet someone that you've only spoken to on a website - but I can honestly say that it was all worth it and I have some brilliant friends to show for it). Godd luck!! Karen x
  4. Husbands go off to work, kids are at school and women are home alone and nowhere to go socially... So here is a start to make friends and chat. ***Search for us on Facebook*** "South Adelaide Coffee Mornings & Get Togethers" Kaz (Mum of 3, Seaford)
  5. To those members who do not know us, this is the best time to meet us and many of our friends. This time last year my family and I had just arrived and knew no one. We organised a couple of open house invitations to our BBQ's and over 50 people attended to our first BBQ, it was amazing, within an hour, everyone was socialsing and becoming good friends. Thankfully we are still very good friends with the original people we met and they will be attending Jane's 40th tomorrow (Sat 22nd Jan) from 4pm, most people coming after 6pm though. Like last year I would like to invite all. Newcommers to our BBQ. Great way to meet new people. We have three kids aged 21 lad, 17 girl and 12 girl and most of the people who are coming have kids similar to these ages. We are fully aware that families with older children it can be hard for you to help your older children to meet similar older children, but this is the way where our two older children met there friends nowm so bring them along. We live in a small cul de sac of 7 homes and the neighbours are happy to have a street bbq. We live in Ferryden Park, North West Adelaide, off South Road, Regency Road. Send me a personal message on here, if you want come and I will give you my address etc. Or e-mail me on Tony_Smith1969@hotmail.com
