Dear all, I came to Australia on 489 Skilled Regional Visa in July 2018. I will be applying for my Permanent Residency Visa (887 Visa) in July 2020. My current passport is due to be expired on January 2021 which means when I will be applying for 887 visa, I will only have six months validity in my current passport. Due to this reason I have applied for a new passport from the Sri Lankan authorities. My question is, when I am filling the application should I put my existing passport details and later update the new passport's details or should I wait for my new passport to arrive and then apply? Please help me in this regard. Your help will be highly appreciated. Thank you & best regards Aussieboy

New #6 Hi Our daughters passport has been changed as it was coming up to 5 years old and there was not 6 months left on it for when we go on our validation trip this July. I have updated our IMMI account with the new Passport number and it seemed to be fine with a message saying thank you. But the VEVO account in her name still has her OLD Passport number showing on her grant letter. Will we be okay at the airport? We'll bring both passports I think, just encase there is a query, but really would prefer to see her updated passport number on VEVO. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks Sarah

Hi all, Is there anyone recently updated their passport info? I am on 475 and I emailed my case officer attaching my new passport's scanned copy and a filled 929 form. It's been more than 9 days and I haven't heard back from them - not even an acknowledgement receipt. I am being so frustrated as my application for 887 is due a the end of this month and I also need to apply for Police Check before applying for 887. Anybody have any idea what's going ? or share their experience and suggestions ?

Holiday in UK - Do we require Visa Label ina UK Passport
Boxertony posted a topic in Visa's and Migration
My family and I arrived in February 2010 on a Skilled Regional Passport (Subclass 475) and then in March 2012 we gained Skilled Regional Visa (Subclass 887). We still have the old visa label in our current passport and two members of our family have gained new UK passports and currently have no visa label in their passport. We are aware that you no longer require a visa label to work in Australia, but do we need a label if we are leaving Australia and want to return to Australia to live and work, if NO! Is there anything we need to do before we leave Australia so we can return without any problems. I look forward to your responses................... With kind regards Tony -

Please can someone let me know how I go about renewing my 13 yr old daughters passport whilst residing in Adelaide. I think I need to do something about Canberra. How much does it cost? How long does it take to gain one

Australian letter of the year This is an actual letter sent to the then DFAT Minister: The Hon. Alexander Downer and the then Immigration, the Hon Minister Amanda Vanstone. The Government tried in desperation to censure the author, but got nowhere because every legal person who read it nearly wet themselves laughing! Please excuse the language contained within, but I suspect the author was somewhat upset? I'll let you decide! Dear Mr. Minister, I'm in the process of renewing my passport, and still cannot believe this. How is it that K-Mart has my address and telephone number, and knows that I bought a Television Set and Golf Clubs from them back in 1997 and yet, the Federal Government is still asking me where I was born and on what date. For Christ’s sake, do you guys do this by hand? My birth date you have in my Medicare information and it is on all the income tax forms I've filed for the past 40 years. It is on my driver's licence, on the last eight passports I've ever had, on all those stupid customs declaration forms I've had to fill out before being allowed off the planes over the last 30 years and all those insufferable census forms that I've filled out every 5 years since 1966. Also, would somebody please take note, once and for all, that my mother's name is Audrey, my Father's name is Jack and I'd be absolutely f*******g astounded if that ever changed between now and when I drop dead!!!... ****! I apologize, Mr. Minister. But I'm really pissed off this morning. Between you an' me, I've had enough of all this bull****! You send the application to my house, then you ask me for my f*******g address! What the hell is going on with your mob? Have you got a gang of mindless Neanderthal arseholes working there? Another thing, look at my damn picture. Do I look like Bin Laden? I can't even grow a beard for God's sakes. I just want to go to New Zealand and see my new granddaughter. (Yes, my son interbred with a Kiwi girl). Would someone please tell me, why would you give a **** whether I plan on visiting a farm in the next 15 days? If I ever got the urge to do something weird to a sheep or a horse, believe you me, I'd sure as hell not want to tell anyone! Well, I have to go now, 'cause I have to go to the other end of the City, and get another f*******g copy of my birth certificate and to part with another $80 for the privilege of accessing MY OWN INFORMATION! Would it be so complicated to have all the services in the same spot, to assist in the issuance of a new passport on the same day? Nooooo... that'd be too f*******g easy and makes far too much sense. You would much prefer to have us running all over the place like chickens with our f*******g heads cut off, and then having to find some high society wanker to confirm that it's really me in the goddamn photo! You know the photo... the one where we're not allowed to smile! You f*******g morons. Signed - An Irate Australian Citizen. P.S. Remember what I said above about the picture, and getting someone in high-society to confirm that it's me? Well, my family has been in this country since before 1850! In 1856, one of my forefathers took up arms with Peter Lalor. (You do remember the Eureka Stockade!!) I have also served in both the CMF and regular Army something over 30 years (I went to Vietnam in 1967), and still have high security clearances. I'm also a personal friend of the president of the RSL and Lt General Peter Cosgrove sends me a Christmas card each year. However, your rules require that I have to get someone 'important' to verify who I am; You know - someone like my doctor; WHO WAS BORN AND RAISED IN F********G PAKISTAN!!!......a country where they either assassinate or hang their ex-Prime Ministers, and are suspended from the Commonwealth for not having the 'right sort of government.’
