  1. We are a group of expats from England who just enjoy a friendly game of golf every Sunday morning. What you need to do is join our facebook account called Adelaide Golflovers, a gentleman called Richard hosts this facebook account. Every week, tends to be Monday or Tuesday he puts up an event for golf on the Sunday giving the venue and the tee off times. You either put that you are going or not going or maybe. There is no pressure to attend or not attend. We play stableford points, that means everyone as an equal chance of winning. We are not a Society and we always play on local public courses all over Adelaide regions as far as from Gawler to Goolwa. The prices tend to be from $45 to $55 per round. The winner chooses and books the next weeks golf and the loser complete a write up (which is a piss take - banter). My mobile is 044 911 9334 and I am called Tony Smith or Private Message me or email me on Tony_Smith1969@hotmail.com
  2. Hi! I'm Flora, I recently moved to Adelaide to study but being a bit older than the average student I'm finding it hard to meet people. Would anyone be up for drinks? I had a look and couldn't see any recent posts about a meet up. Flora

    Cricket Players Wanted

Our cricket club has a few English players and we're always looking for more. Pre-season is underway and there is still loads of time to join. Even come for a practice (Tues/Thurs or Sun) or two to see if you enjoy it. K.C.C. has great facilities, great oval, good blokes & cold beer. Fees are the cheapest around too! We're trying to fill 3 senior sides, so whether you are experienced or a beginner we can definitely find a spot for you Contact me / reply to post asap cheers
  5. To All We are Adelaide Golflovers and we are always wanting new players (male and female), who enjoy a game of social golf every Sunday morning, we tend to tee off anytime between from 7.40am up to 09:00am and we play at all public courses around Adelaide, which range in price from $30.00 to $45.00. We are a great set of blokes who enjoy the banter, the 19th hole and of the course the golf. We play Stableford so there are no disadvantages, our handicaps tend to range from 12 to 35. Please PM for more information. The winner of each week books their choice of golf course and time for the following Sunday and the loser does a write up (a piss-take really). We are not a Society and there is no pressure to attend each and every week, we just put an event up on Adelaide Golflovers every week and you can either click join - maybe or decline. Some players bring their older children to golf with them, which annoys me, because they even beat me lol. Also gives new immigrants to Adelaide to meet potential friends. Richard Henderson hosts the Adelaide Golflovers and I am Tony Smith. We hope to hear from you in the very near future. Tony

    Is it always this quiet?

Hi everyone, We've been in Adelaide for almost a week now and we're just getting ready to decide on where to settle and find a rental. We've been looking at areas south of the city (Flagstaff Hill/Aberfoyle Park/Bellevue Heights) and we're currently staying at a furnished rental in Glandore (Margarita's Place) but everywhere seems really quiet. It was a literally a couple of days before we saw another living soul in Glandore and, aside from Aberfoyle Hub on Saturday, it all seems ghostly quiet, with no kids around in the playgrounds and reserves and nobody in the suburbs. We've seen a couple of nice houses but we're just a bit concerned that we'll never see any signs of life in any of the suburbs we've been looking. We know it's a bit more lively along the beaches but we have 2 kids so finading a family home and good schools are our main priorities, although we still want to socialise from time to time. Any thoughts anyone? Cheers, Tim

    Here we go...

Hey, Just wanted to say a quick Hi! Myself and my OH are at the starting line for our application for Oz. We have decided (with a little encouragement from the SMPs ) that Adelaide is the place to be! We have hired an agent and in the process of getting OH stuff together for skills assessment! Really sociable and hoping to make a few friends before we get out there to ease the pressure. Been having a little wonder around forums and everyone here seems lovely and helpful, even more than PIO! Hope to get chatting with you all soon! Jade x

  11. To those members who do not know us, this is the best time to meet us and many of our friends. This time last year my family and I had just arrived and knew no one. We organised a couple of open house invitations to our BBQ's and over 50 people attended to our first BBQ, it was amazing, within an hour, everyone was socialsing and becoming good friends. Thankfully we are still very good friends with the original people we met and they will be attending Jane's 40th tomorrow (Sat 22nd Jan) from 4pm, most people coming after 6pm though. Like last year I would like to invite all. Newcommers to our BBQ. Great way to meet new people. We have three kids aged 21 lad, 17 girl and 12 girl and most of the people who are coming have kids similar to these ages. We are fully aware that families with older children it can be hard for you to help your older children to meet similar older children, but this is the way where our two older children met there friends nowm so bring them along. We live in a small cul de sac of 7 homes and the neighbours are happy to have a street bbq. We live in Ferryden Park, North West Adelaide, off South Road, Regency Road. Send me a personal message on here, if you want come and I will give you my address etc. Or e-mail me on Tony_Smith1969@hotmail.com
  12. Hey, I'm Luke I've recently moved to Aldinga and I'm no longer at college and I work away so I'm finding it hard to find people my age in the area. I'm pulling out my hair from social deprivation and need some people to hang out with. If there's anyone who wouldn't mind meeting up to hang out for a while, meeting at the pub or letting me tag along at some point let me know... Also wondering if there's a group of young people that might want to get together for a night out in Adelaide coming from Seaford, Noarlunga, Willunga etc... Mostly looking for some more regular friends close by or within 10-15 minutes driving distance.
  13. To All, It's that time again for another BBQ/party at ours. Our previous one we had for my son Nathan's 21st at the end of March was a really good celebration and a great turn out. This time it is my 41st birthday celebrations. Same guidelines as last time. Therefore I would like very much for all younger adults (male and female) to come and celebrate my 41st birthday on the Saturday 8th May 2010. This will help you sociaslise with people of your own age and meet new friends. I am suggesting that we commence around (7.00 p.m.) at our home in Ferryden Park (North West), which is 9km from the CBD, near Woodville, Kilkenny, Athol Park, Angle Park and Croydon. This will help people to chat/socialise and a have drink, I will even put some food on. I have also a daughter 'Shannon' 17 years old who would like to meet friends at a similar age, so you can come along as well. We also have a 11 year old girl as well 'Charlotte', who requires friends as well, so bring them too. In addition we have Mam's and Dad's who are welcome. I would like all newcomers to join in, nice way to meet people who have been through the same experiences. If you would like to come, please can you inform me via this post or you can PM me if you require further details or you want me to keep you informed via telphone/text message, leave your details via PM. Each and everyone who states that they would like to come I will contact you via PM or telephone or text message with our address and which buses you can catch from the CBD. Bring your drink remember and hopefully see you this Saturday 8th May. Thanks and I hope to see you soon!!!! Tony
  14. This is aimed at every older teenager / young adult on this forum. My family and I will be arriving on the Wednesday 10th February 2010. We are a young couple with a daughter Shannon aged 17, son Nathan aged 21 and another daughter Charlotte aged 11. I am extremely worried about my kids being isolated and not gaining good friends in Adelaide. I am not so worried about my Nathan has he is a professional sportsman and has very outgoing nature, but its my Shannon she is more resiliant about our family adventure with our new life in Adelaide. Basically does not want to be in Adelaide. So what I am hoping to arrange once we have settled is to arrange a a BBQ at our place for all you teenagers / young adults to socialise. Hopefully this will not just help my kids but other young people to meet new friends. Maybe some like minded parents can tag along as well lol. Obviously we will not be in Adelaide until Feb, but I will post an update nearer the time. Furthermore I have coached and managed soccer teams for the past 22 years here in the UK, plus my son has been a professional. I am going to look into sorting out a team from scratch and enter a Saturday/Sunday league. Maybe we could call the team PIA FC. What do you think moderators. We could arrange Parents V Kids Soccer match. I understand that you young ones - that it is horrible for us older people/parents trying to get you friends etc, but this BBQ is meant with all good intentions. Hopefully some good can come from this socialable event and you had the chance to gain acquaintances and exchange contact details and sorted out your own future arrangements regarding meeting each other. I look forward to your replies...................
