Introducing myself

    Recommended Posts

    Hi all,

I managed to stumble across this site while looking for something else......fair to say I'm stoked I've found this!

I emigrated with my mum, brother and step-dad in 1987. There is now only by brother and myself here as my whole family still live in the UK (mum passed away 7 years ago).

I spoke to Gran and Granda last week and once I got off the phone I decided to set myself a goal to get there in 2 years for a holiday with my girls so they can see the other side of our family........so gotta save, save, save:)

    Okay, must run...at work

    Nice to meet you all

    Talk soon

    Lisa:p

Hi Lisa, welcome to our little world, great place for info etc and take no notice of the `North haters`, they are just `Southern softies` who don`t know how good it is up this neck of the woods ;)

    Thanks Lee,

Glad I came across this site, magic! I could just read what people have to say for hours! Love it

I have to say, I've suffered at work (after a night out last night) and I was talking to my brother about what tasty food we could grab on the way home...seriously could have downed about 3 kebabs, instead had to settle for the cheeseburgers (crap!).

Alright, I've managed to avoid any work whatsoever today....you know the story 'I'll make it up on Monday!!' I'm heading off now

    Seeya

    Hi Lisa

We try and organise girls' nights out in this neck of the woods every month or so, usually at the Golden Grove Tavern, so if you fancy it, keep an eye out on the Social section on here for details. We've got a girls' winery trip coming up on 2nd August but regrettably we're fully booked on that one at the moment .

Good luck with the saving - OH is off to the UK next week on a whirlwind trip for a family event, there's been a bit of a price war on recently so worth keeping an eye out for specials. Hope you and your girls are able to get back for a visit sometime soon anyway!

They definitely are, its because all the factories up here pump the toxic waste into the sea and make it more resembling Blackpool (but without the turds and condoms) :biglaugh:

And Maslins certainly is an eye opener :err::eek:

My theory is that the further north in the UK people lived, the further south they head down here, Tyke! What they don't realise is that everything is upside down here though, so in the UK South beats North hands down, and in Adelaide it's the other way round...!

    LOL I'll get my coat.......

PS Don't envy you southerners your rates though -just had Onk's rates bill for a bit of grass down there and it's HUGE!

    Agree with you Tyke.

Welcome to the site. We live way down south but have family in Modbury and friends in Golden Grove.

Where are you from originally in the UK?

    Thanks Diane,

I'll definately keep an eye out on the social pages....any excuse to get out and socialise and I'm there:)

No worries about the 2nd August, it's my birthday dinner on the 1st so hopefully I'll be recovering (sign of a good night out! Ha Ha)

Take care and thanks to all for their contributions to this thread,

    Cheers

    Hi Moosh,

I'm from Hartlepool, that's where all my family are.

I'm thinking I better stay on neutral ground in relation to N & S (considering I'm new to PIA...lol) here in SA.........got the best of both worlds. Get to live in the North then head down South (been at Sellicks Beach all weekend) as I have a very close friend living down there......basically like having a holiday home down there, sensational area........it's like Summer Bay (Home and Away) down there! So pretty and relaxing.

Okay, must get back to work....hopefully talk too you all soon

    Cheers

    Lisa
