Simple but priceless.

    Hi,

Just thought i would recommend to newbies arriving and buying their first car, that they should consider one with a Towbar fitted(loads have this on them)Whilst not particularily aesthetically pleasing to some, this addition can prove priceless during your first few months here. Our bin has,and it has enabled us to get ourselves sorted out with basic needs furniture wise, and moving stuff from A to B.If you aint got one and dont know anyone, you will pay for it dearly, same as in the UK.You can hire trailers of all sizes from lots of local petrol stations here, for reasonable cost, also the bigger furniture stores have them free for bulky items bought(2-4 hour lending time)you can fit in other jobs if you are quick! All the best,Sue.

I make towbars! Well the company I work for does! Buy more - we need job security!

Milford/Halls - towbars, cargo barriers, gear safe etc.

We've been lucky enough to always have a car with a tow-bar since we got here, and yes, it makes me wonder how we ever managed without one before :)

Another very good reason to have a tow bar is the protection it gives your car if you're involved in a shunt. Take a close look at the next car bingle. The car that's been travelling too close behind will be totalled, but the car with the tow-bar that's been rear ended maybe has a dink or two, but can be driven away no bother. A tow bar saved the OH's van from being written off when a P-plater decided to use her as a brake. His daewoo was a mess...

In a 4wd a few years ago I was shunted at 80k by a Holden ute - hardly a scratch on ours - the engine block was sat in the ute cab with the dirver. He was OK but the car a write off!:err:
