They all work, you just need to change the plugs or get adaptors. With the tv you need to get a set top box which costs about $40, so you can get the channels. You can carry laptops with you on the plane.

Totally agree - bring everything. Our dishwasher, washing machine etc. all work. Our TV works with a set top box. Other TV in the rumpus room gets picture but no sound. If the kids us UK dvd player to play their UK dvds then the sound is fine.

Some good advice I got was to bring 4-way adaptors over - that way you just have to change the 1 plug for many pommy devices.

The electrical supply here is the same as the UK (230/240vAC, 50Hz) - only problem is it's upside down, but the good new is it doesn't seem to affect the operation of the appliance. It's true - well the plug's and sockets are upside down at any rate, with the earth pin at the bottom rather than the top :)

Lap top absolutely essential, you can carry it on the plane as extra hand carry. Bring quite a few (4/5) travel adaptors suitable for Oz and 3/4 british 4 plug adaptors. You can use all your electrical items straight away. Wireless Internet connection is fairly easy to get (although slow up here in Blackwood). The local library has a faster connection and you can use it free for up to an hour (or longer if nobody else has booked it).
