Just a quick vid clip of a small Port Jackson Shark we caught yesterday.

No good to eat - bottom feeder so so big choppers

    Nice markings though.

This one was under a metre long.

We did bring him into the boat to unhook him but he really thrashed about so no chance of a closer look.:arghh:

    My first You Tube upload.:)

Nice looking shark Tyke ! Shame you couldnt get a closer look.

We had a very close look actually but the little devil thrashed and shook blood everywhere so not good viewing.

Very strong little sucker for his size.

Not much flesh on so not good eating.

Sheila thinks we need an enormous boat now.

We were bitten of on a snapper line by something huge - no amount of drag would stop it.

Just kept peeling line until it chewed it off:wideeyed::swoon:

Whatever it was- it was hoooge.

I was supposed to be going out on the boat yesterday . but did not get out.

My old Aussie mate and fishing mentor called the trip off due to the forecast - The Bureau of "Maybeology" got it wrong....good waters:arghh:

Too late to launch so went onto Pt Noarlunga jetty to wet some lines.

    Guess what I pulled in??

3 of these Pt Jackson Sharks - blooming things are following me.

Nothing to take home and eat I'm afraid:sad:

They don't grow huge - around 1m normally.

They are bottom feeders and eat shellfish, crabs and basically hoover the bottom.

    No real teeth,just grinding plates.

You do have to watch out for a spike on their dorsal fin - that could hurt!

I'll take a pic of a set next time I have one.

They do seem to be around at the moment - or it could just be those super stinky squid heads that have been in and out of the freezer lots of times!

Here is a link to the little darlings.....

Nice one, we saw one yesterday too - about the same size on Pt Noarlunga jetty, someone caught it then threw it back.
