Probably not. If that's her only - or main - reason for wanting to move here, she may well be disappointed!!

I can see I'm not the only one to pick up on this part of your post, but to reiterate, no doubt some do end up better off financially than they were, but I reckon that for most, this is a long way off if it's ever to happen at all. I'd seriously challenge any idea of moving over here because it's supposedly cheaper. Chances are you won't earn as much as you currently do (some do manage that, and a few earn more, but many (I think most) don't). 'Better off' can mean far more than just financially, of course, but given that your post was about earnings, I'm commenting just on that aspect.

I hope your other reasons for wanting to move make up for the financial side of things!

    Good luck, Jim

thanks to everyone, its not only financial reasons, but it always helps!!

mainly the exchange rate that is screwing us up at the moment if that was to improve we would probably not even worry as we would still manage to have a small mortgage like just know but have a better house and lifestyle.

still having high days and low days wondering what to do

Construction award rate around $32 an hour plus site allowance of $25 a day for anywhere within 50 k of the CBD, ie you get there with your tools. So if you pick your house say at Two Wells and get sent to Strathalbyn distance travelled each way 100 k both within the 50 K only get paid $25 travel.

Maintenance role $28-$30 an hour including van etc. Usually need Allen Bradley, Siemens, HMI, possibly CITEC etc.

PLC Programmers with two large well known establishments $26-$30 an hour, most programmers at these companies are sponsored visa's. As above programming experiance with Allen Bradley RS logic, Siemens Step 7 CITEC, Direct Soft etc.
