short break accomodation

    Recommended Posts

Hello, we are planning to visit Adelaide in February for 5 days and need accomodation for a family of 4. Can anyone recommend somewhere suitable with good facilities, such as a pool and childrens activities? Any ideas welcome!

    Guest Here at last!

When we lived in the country and visted Adelaide we used to stay in the Holiday Inn, as they allow 4 in the same room and kids eat breakfast for a free. I think I saw an advert in the paper that they are currently offering cheap rooms for $109 per night per room. If you upgrade to the suite which isn't as much as it sounds you get kitchen facilities in the room too which is always handy with kids.

The breakfast was really nice, however, the hotel is located on Hindley Street which is very busy at weekends in the bars. We didn't have a problem with this as with the kids we were always tucked up in bed for 9pm.

Hi we stayed in the Frankin street apartments, in the city when we first arrived which were fab! we book a 3 bed apartment, had a full kitchen & a laundry as well as 2 bathrooms, no swimming pool though! We also stayed in the Stamford Grand in Glenelg which is lovely a bit more money but worth it! swimming pool, gym, it is on the beach front & the tram to the city is on your doorstep as well as lots of cafe & resturants x

Hello there. If you're stuck, you could try Adelaide Regent apartments. http://www.adelaideregent.com.au. They have short stay apartments at a number of locations in Adelaide - 1,2 and 3 bed. We used Melbourne street location when we arrived and it worked really well. When looking at their rates remember you're getting a 2 bed flat (in Melbourne st) with more room for your money. Can't remember how much we paid, but in any case we were on a 90 day rate while house hunting.

Caravan Parks are great for young ones to meet playmates. There is one on the foreshore at Kingston Park run by Holdfast Council that is extremely popular. Feb. will be hot, so bucket and spade or surfboards, and parents time playing and swimming might be a cheap alternative, combined with trips to the zoo, going to the ice arena and playing tourist at Victor Harbor.(they have evening tours on Granite Island the children may like.) You could even go fishing at Seacliff in the evening. Walking distance from the Caravan Park. Enjoy.

When we used to visit Adelaide for a week or so, we always stayed at Glenelg, as there was so much round there for the children to do and so easy to find our way to other places.

Things have changed somewhat since Magic Mountain disappeared, but I can highly recommend either Adelaide Shores Complex, where they have different sorts of cabins, villas etc. or Baybeachfront which is on the front at Glenelg North.

We have stayed at Adelaide Shores in a campervan twice. Great facilities for kids with large pool and on the beach. The cabins looked quite good. Bus stops outside the camp going into the city. Fish and chip shop around the corner on the beach, great way to watch the sunset. Also a surf club there.
