looking at retiring near tykes farm

    Recommended Posts

    Hello everybody,

    I got here via Tyke:biglaugh:

Have tried to get to oz before but was in the age gap over 45 and under 55.

Now looking at retireing in S.A. and maybe if allowed starting a small busines (ebay ) for pin money/brain exercise.

If there are any people on the forum in the same vein as me and who have made it, that would be great.

    regards

    TACD

Hi there TACD welcome to the site!

Can't help with your request sorry, but we are building in Onkaparinga Hills and hope to be in by christmas. So if you end up living there, we might be neighbours so will have to arrange a welcome party! Good luck with it all.

    Hiya TACD Ol' matey boy!!

    :D

I thought of you the other day with the age limit change.

Not sure where the age limit cuts off now - shame with your skills.

I'm sure there are retirement visas whereby you can "buy" your way in.

Ya need a bit of dosh though as you have to be self sufficient financially I think.

Don't forget that I am a citizen here now and can sponsor;)

Hate to put a damper on the emigration bit for oldies, but there are numerous rules which have to be passed to qualify. We have recently been granted our visa and awaiting house sale before going, but I do know of some of the rules. You have to have 50% of your children resident in Aus, pay about £30,000 pounds for a visa for a couple, and be in good health etc. You also have to be sponsored by somebody in Aus. in case you hit on hard times once there. They allow about 3200 new people in per year on paying visa's or there is a wait of about 12years for a free visa, although the 50% of children still apply. All of the rules are on the immi website, and it may be worth a look to check our for yourself, as unless you can qualify you may be disapointed. I am also in South Gloucestershire and if I can be of any help please email me.

    Hi Hayshake,

sorry, still cant get used to everything being answered bottm uo.

    Lechlade eh? Im near Bath.

You havent put a dampner on things, I know things will be nigh on impossible.

I have a brother and two nieces and two grandneices in Australia.

I'm just trying to convince 50% of my children to migrate there.

I also considered going to NZ and using the Tasmanian Accord but knowing my luck it would probably be abolished the day before we went :biglaugh:

Toymota's seem to be the way in Australia though mate.

    Hows me farm looking?

They are the brand here - might let you play with mine when you are over.

Tidied up the farm recently - before the hot weather comes in - knackered after all the landscaping.

I'll have to get some more piccies online:)
