    Hi :)

could anyone suggest somewhere for a weekend away?

we've got three kids (aged three (twins) and 7 months) so we're looking for somewhere with lots of activities suitable for small people!

we're happy to drive up to four hours away...

in the uk, being from n wales i'd go to somewhere like Shell Island, Barmouth, but we don't really know South Australia (or Victoria!) so can't think where to go!

we want to go for two/three nights...

    please give us any suggestions!

    Thanks

    Hels x

Probably no good for the ages of your kids but we have just booked a weekend on the Murray River in a houseboat for the end of April. I would be interested to see what others suggest though.

    Guest Here at last!

We recently spent a week in Goolwa with 2 children age 2 and 5. We had a great time, lots of things for the kids to do, the food and wine was fantastic.

It was only just over an hour from Adelaide.

interesting as we can only afford a weekend too but have no idea where to go either.

We did look at Kangaroo island but that needed 4 days and was not sure about stuff for the kids. We need some where a bit like Center Parcs but nicer... hopeful for replies

Look around the Flinders for the cooler months - spring or Autumn.

Some good kid friendly places there!:)

If you haven't been there already, Victor Harbour/ Goolwa/ Port Elliot. Only one and half hours. Ok for younger ones I would think. You've got the horse drawn tram at Granite Island, a few beaches, boat trips on the Murray or Coorong, plenty of places for snacks/eats. They're all within easy reach of each other and a bit different to each other. Oh yes, wildlife park at Urimbirra just outside Victor. Train ride from Goolwa to Victor. And so on.

We've just come back from a week in Renmark. It's a 4 hours drive from you guys and absolutely stunning. Our little girls had a blast. There is a brilliant pool and spa and a lovely safe playground and jumping pillow. It is situated right on the banks of the murray river and there are boats for hireand all the watersports available.

We camped and for a powered site for 7 nights cost us $300 but there are beautiful self contained cabins for about $200 a night. Renmark is really nice with a few nice places to eat and is close to Berri and Monash adventure playground.

We really had a great holiday and would definately recommend it!

    HI Michelle,

Have just stayed in the big 4 campsite at Robe and have been to the one at lake Bonney in the Riverlands. Great sites playgrounds, swimming pools and bouncy pillowsfor the kids , plus a kids club if needed during summer and easter hols i think.

We have just booked 3 nights at Narnu Farm. Seems really good for the kids and we are paying £120 a night for a cottage that sleeps 6. You can feed the anilmals (just right for a couple of 3 year olds), meet other families with kids and also they do riding lessons.

    Good luck

We go off camping quite a lot and kids love it! We have been to quite a few places now and have never found anywhere where our daughter got bored as most of the campsites have great facilities and there are always lots of other kids about for them to play with.

This website gives you a list of campsites around SA and you can request a brochure which will give you an idea of what is about in different areas and what the campsite is like - Caravan and Camping South Australia > SA Destinations

    Why not try the yorke-peninsula.

    It's really nice over there.

Just come back from a camping trip over there last weekend - stunning scenery and plenty to keep everyone occupied. Camping is a great way to get to explore your new homeland with the Yorke and Fleurieu Peninsulas, the Riverlands and the Adelaide Hills all in easy reach of the city suburbs.

For more info on the areas (including accomodation options) follow:

    South Australia - Regions

You can download the regional broochures from there, if you can't get to the Tourist Information offices for the hard copies.
